Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Due to an exciting bancassurance partnership with a local Omani bank, we now have a newly created opportunity as a Head of Direct Marketing to be based in Muscat, Oman.

This role will be responsible for the achievement / accountability for all financial targets set for Direct to Consumer Marketing including premiums, marketing expenses / cost of acquisition budgets, return on investment, profitability, retention and business mix (media, segments, products and source).

Additional key responsibilities include:
- Manage direct to consumer organization / team, including planning, hiring, retaining, succession planning and development of direct marketing talent.
- Work closely with business owners of Accident and Health / Life, Personal Lines (AIG Profit Centers) so as to align Direct to Consumer strategies and provide feedback on opportunities / challenges.
- Development and management of AIG Consumer Lines Direct Marketing strategies including proactively responding to changes: in consumer behavior, regulatory / legislative or market practices.
- Closely monitor consumer usage and attitude trends with reference to media, specifically emerging new media such as digital media (including internet, social media and mobile media) and manage opportunities and change.
- Approach the direct marketing business from an analytics orientation - for purposes of market segmentation, retention, relationship management and profitability.
- Monitor business mix (source, media and products) and suitably adapt business strategy.
- Govern and responsible for addressing consumer needs - offering the right product to customer in order to address different needs and to maximize relationship value for AIG Consumer Lines.
- Influence product strategy and product development process.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

1. Direct Marketing knowledge and experience.
* Minimum 10 Years of direct marketing / sales / marketing experience (preferably in financial services - banking or insurance); of which, a minimum of 3 years managing Bancassurance relationships.

2. An experienced Leader:
* Experience in setting up and managing a team of direct reports

3.Good understanding of key business drivers:
* Analytically oriented, good understanding of key business drivers of direct marketing results and overall financial goals such as profitability or return on investment.

4. Strong strategic thinking and operational abilities:
* Ability to look ahead at market determinants (such as demographics, consumer behavior, competition, regulation / legislation) and execute strategic plans.

5. Business case / marketing plan development and execution experience:

* Experience in developing a business case / financial projections, justifying and gaining internal stakeholder approval and the ability to execute projects or large campaigns.
* Experience in executing market research.

6. Major account management skills / experience:
* Ability and willingness to win new (partnership) business and represent AIG to key direct marketing partner relationships.
