Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance

Job description / Role

A major government-backed organisation in Muscat is searching for a Head of Governance, Risk and Compliance to join their organisation. Leading a small team, you will work with their Board of Directors to establish an enterprise wide risk management framework and integrated compliance function.

Core duties will include:

- Work with the Board to develop the organisation's risk profile and risk appetite.
- Establish a framework for enterprise risk management - review policies, design a governance framework.
- Manage the implementation of a corporate compliance programme in accordance with the governance programme.
- Direct the implementation of the risk management framework, working closely with senior management to ensure that the framework is both understood and fully embedded across the organisation.
- Manage and develop the organisation's scheme of delegated authority, authorisations to act etc.
- Redesign the organisational structure for the governance, risk and compliance function.
- Manage the GRC function, all budgets and internal strategies; train and mentor team members where required.

Requirements

Requirements

- A minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in risk management, internal audit and corporate governance.
- Previous experience of managing an internal audit or risk management function and implementing best practice according to international standards.
- Experience in the development of a risk management framework.
- The ability to work to the highest ethical standards and ability to work independently.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong communication skills; the ability to clearly present information both verbally and in writing.
- Strong project management/organizational skills, the ability to manage demanding priorities
- Team management/leadership experience.
