Employment: Full Time

The Role:

The Head of Group Insurance for the Alshaya Group of Companies will be responsible for all insurance related activity, assessing all potential material risks to which the Group's businesses could be exposed and ensuring appropriate cover is in place and constantly monitored and improved.

Specifically:

Identify relevant risks based on a thorough analysis and understanding of our businesses and exposures such as loss of attraction, denial of access, dependence, supplier's inability to provide goods etc which need to be insured.

Quantify the amount and period of cover taking into account concentration of risks, probability of occurrence of risks.

Insure identified risks at best value for money; through quality insurance/re-insurance companies who have the capacity and track record of settling claims promptly; and with insurance policies which are structured precisely to our needs and do not have exclusion or other clauses which are not clear, or have hidden surprises which result in our claims being rejected for lack of cover etc.

Communicate details of insurance policies and distribute certificates of insurance immediately upon renewal to operational units in different countries to avoid disruption of operations.

Establish and communicate efficient and effective procedures for the administration, management and prompt settlement of claims ie reporting, assessing, quantifying, submitting, negotiating , and settlement.

Responsible for a small team of specialist insurance staff.

Administration of the requirements under the insurance policies, including periodical declarations, data processing, payment of premiums etc.

Arrange independent risk management surveys to identify risks in stores and buildings and preventative action being taken to minimize such risks and the insurance premiums.

Review insurance obligations under various business contracts of the Group, including lease agreements, franchise agreements, logistics etc and ensure they are not onerous, protect our interest eg waiver of subrogation rights under lease agreements and that we comply therewith.

Requirements

Bachelors in Commerce or Business Studies or Management.

Current professional membership of the Chartered Insurance Institute London or equivalent. Master of Institute of Risk Management, UK or equivalent would be an added advantage.

Highly experienced insurance industry experience with excellent working knowledge of the international insurance market, the structure, subtleties and fine detail of insurance models and policies.

Deep understanding risk and risk assessment.

Exposure and experience of insurance within Property (All Risks including Business Interruption), marine and cargo, political violence, third party, medical, retail.

Excellent communication skills, specifically in English, exposure to international communications across the major insurance markets globally.

International contacts and experience working with insurance and re-insurance companies and loss adjusters.
