Job Title: Head of IS

Location: Uganda

Responsible To: Head of Finance / Chief Executive

Direct Reports: 1 x (Software) Applications Manager,Network engineering and maintenance staff ,Desktop Support team leader and staff, including Help Desk,Applications Administrators and staff ,Information Systems Administrators

The Head of Information Systems (IS) in an organization has the overall responsibility for managing the delivery of IS to the organization which enables the organization to function efficiently and effectively. This involves:

Analysing existing systems for efficiency and recommending upgrades and design change

Ensuring timely implementation of software and hardware systems projects to agreed budget and quality parameters (including user acceptance)

Coordinating and supervising multiple systems to work in unison across various departments / companies

Establishing user needs and working to mutually agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with each user department

Ensuring hardware, software and data integrity including contingency and disaster and recovery planning and implementation

Ensuring compliance with software user licenses; managing user access

Developing appropriate budgets to accommodate the communication and IT needs of various departments and service areas

Managing the staff of the IS department

Managing the communications (TV dishes, cable, mobile phones, fixed lines) and IT (LAN, wireless networks, PCS, laptops, printers) networks and assets

Requirements

Qualifications

Proven ability on a senior management team, with experience of running a large IS department across multiple locations and business units

Ability to be an effective manager, with ability to influence at a senior level

Demonstrated ability to understand and analyse IS requirements and develop practical, cost effective solutions

Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks to achieve timely implementation of major IS projects to quality and budget

Engineering/ Science/ Computer graduate with OCP Certification

Minimum 10+ years experience, at least 3+ at a senior level

Commitment to performance measurement and continuous improvement
