Employment: Full Time

Salary AED 40-42k/month

A brand new internal audit function is being created in a large group in Dubai. This role represents an excellent opportunity to set up and manage the Internal Audit Department (IAD) of the Group from scratch.

He/she would provide reliable assurance to the Board of Directors as to the effectiveness of the control systems in place to mitigate risks, develop and enhance the control culture of the business and ensure that the Board of Directors is kept promptly and fully advised of the results of the Internal Audits of all areas of the business, with specific recommendations being made for any necessary changes in policy or procedures required to deal with weaknesses highlighted by those audits.

Main responsibilities:
- To participate in the development of the Corporate Risk Management strategy and Internal Audit Department (IAD), and manage implementation of the Internal Audit fieldwork and procedures throughout the Group.
- To participate in system implementations, policy and procedure developments to effect implementation of effective internal controls and best practices.
- To provide primary direction of the Internal Audit Department (IAD) for the Group, including assisting the Board and Senior Management of the Group in the effective discharge of their duties, promoting effective control at reasonable cost, risk assessment and the examination and evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of the Groups system of operational internal controls and the quality of performance in carrying out assigned responsibilities.
- To manage and supervise the Internal Audit Department (IAD), including establishing the charter for the department, budgeting, planning, policies and procedures, audit work scope, and personnel management, development and training.
- To conduct general financial and operational audits and support all the Business Units in evaluating and recommending improvements to business practices, processes, and control procedures. The audits shall be financial, risk-based, and operational in nature, and responsibility will also include the examination of records to ensure proper documentation of transactions and compliance with applicable laws, agreements, contracts and standard policies.
- Examine and evaluate the information systems in place across the Group, recommending controls to ensure system reliability, business continuity, data security and integrity
- To elicit information from knowledgeable internal/external sources about functional areas, to determine appropriate audit direction and methodology.
- To include fraud detection practices and techniques in the regular audit process consistent with the industry and professional standards for such audits, and develop and implement fraud prevention and detection measures.
- To review, implement and monitor all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Level Agreements (SLAs), Guidelines and related policies and procedures, and suggest improvements.
- To oversee hiring, training, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions and counselling for the Internal Audit Department (IAD) personnel with assistance as needed from the Board and Senior Management.
- To liaise with External Auditors to maximise the External Audit reliance on Internal Audit work.

Requirements

- Qualified CA (or equivalent) AND CIA, ideally with CISA as well
- Preferably a native Arabic speaker
- Excellent senior experience gained in supervising an Internal Audit function in a large local group or a multinational with high standards
- Local UAE experience & candidates must be living in Dubai already
- Young, ambitious, dynamic & with a strong, outgoing personality
- Excellent people-management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills Youll be reporting to and presenting directly to the Board
- Sound ability to identify fraud
- In-depth knowledge of the professional standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
- Strong at understanding of strategic management concepts to facilitate the implementation of strategic management principles
