Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The client is a large Family Group and are looking for a Head of Machinery to oversee their industrial/heavy machinery division.

HEAD OF MACHINERY DIVISION:
- Overall measure and report on operational issues in the rental division, find opportunities and development plans for achievement within agreed formats and timescales.
- Plan, develop and implement strategy and budgets for the operational management of the division within agreed targets and timelines.
- Develop procedures and processes that adequately support the business and secure the quality of the work.
- Lead the teams across the identified markets to deliver and exceed the agreed business results through processes and activities which meet the companys standards.
- Ensure that relationship with principals are developed and maintained and that common business is developed appropriately.
- Focus on maximizing profitability of major and minor franchises.
- Liaise with other functional/department managers so as to understand all required aspects and needs of operational development, and to ensure they are fully informed of operational objectives, purpose and achievements.
- Interact efficiently with the Finance and Administration departments for the purpose of extending finance credit to customers within acceptable constraints so as to limit the extent of risk to the business. Ensure that business operations are conducted according to the division and company procedure.
- Direct and coordinate through subordinates the activities of the Machinery Department, and proper work allocation and utilization in order to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and human resources.
- Co-ordinate with project team, ensure and confirm the arrangements of equipment and vehicles in line with the project requirements.
- Maintain good business relationships with clients and potential clients through regular co-ordination and communication at all times promoting Company's business interests.
- Maintain knowledge of competitors operations.
- Prioritize and communicate replacement and rebuild capital needs.
- Ensure safe and reliable heavy equipment is available to meet disposal operation requirements.
- Manage effective utilization of heavy equipment assets.
- Manage cost reduction, customer and employee initiatives that drive value and support key company goals and strategic objectives.
- Manage long-term plans into day-to-day operations.
- Manage planning activities to optimize ROI through effective training and utilization of people and assets.
- Implement maintenance action plans that utilize cost drivers of the business and performance metrics to effect change.
- Implement key processes to effectively drive profitability.
- Implement shop performance improvements.
- Execute corporate strategies and policies.
- Manage maintenance managers to ensure performance and cost focus across the division.
- Ensure maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.
- Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
- Ensure heavy equipment management systems are effectively utilized.
- Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
- Create and manage budget process as required.
- Conduct and ensure health and safety operations adherence.

Requirements

- B.S. / B.E. Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Auto Mobil Engineering
- 3 5 years experience in the heavy equipment machinery operations and a solid background in construction heavy equipment & machinery
- Should have Technical inclination and ability to handle related technical matters of equipment in terms of procurement, selection, maintenance, stocking of parts, fleet management, etc.
- Trouble shooting and problem solving technical and commercial customer relationships.
- Management of sub-contracts.
- GCC experience with multinational workforce will be an added advantage.
- Should have sound knowledge of efficient equipment deployment for project management operations in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.
- Be able to lead and train a working team of operators and workshop technicians.
- Co-ordinate with project personnel and confirm the arrangements of equipment and vehicles in line with the project requirements.
- Should have knowledge in preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Should have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Arabic is an added advantage.
