The Role


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Provide managerial and leadership support to the Finance Manager to develop and implement accounting and project finance support to QPIs asset and project portfolio.
Develop and maintain a fit-for-purpose corporate project finance control framework in line with international good practices (e.g. financial analysis, modeling, risk management, due diligence). Ensure these are consistently applied within each opportunity/project.
As a member of the opportunity/project team, participate in the review and assessment of potential opportunities/projects to determine whether to proceed with the investment or not
Lead financial and financing due diligence activities as part of pre-acquisition activities; ensure coordination with other similar exercises (e.g. commercial, legal, technical)
Ensure the optimal deal structure and process for each opportunity/project (e.g. strategy, financing, funding, loan structure, tax)
Ensure that limited/non-recourse financing is structured and obtained on the best terms and conditions, when needed
Organize and structure management information (e.g. project, financing plans, cash flows, budgets) to assist QPIs decision-making processes
Contribute to the periodic assessment and review of the existing corporate portfolio providing finance and accounting input such that the appropriate risk and reward is maintained.
Ensure that QPIs Annual Business Plan adequately reflects the status of each opportunity/project (e.g. budget, financing, phasing, risks and mitigations) Liaise with QPs Finance & Project Finance team (QPPF) in respect of financing and funding options, ensuring approvals and funds are available in accordance with the approved schedule of activities.
Monitor costs against approved AFE and budget amounts together with regular Latest Estimate updates.
Monitor commercial and financial obligations within JV agreements, loan and other commitment documents ensuring QPI compliance with all obligations.
Promote the effective and efficient use of SAP within the respective teams.
Receive, monitor, record and process cash calls and disbursement requests for projects; maintaining records for the transactions and seeking authorization for disbursements as per the policies and procedures;
Develop and maintain relationships with JV partners, banking, insurance, and non-organizational accounting personnel in order to facilitate financial activities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE:

Professional accountancy qualification or University Degree equivalent
Substantial experience/knowledge (10 years+)of project financing and strong deal history gained in an international environment (e.g. financing structures, risk management, accounting & reporting, cash flows, budgeting, controls)
Understanding of commercial, legal, marketing activities
