For our client, a recently founded and growing Electric Polytechnic School in Saudi Arabia, we are currently looking for a

Head of Technical Department (m/f)

Our client is an Electric Polytechnic School in Saudi Arabia. Founded in 2012, the tertiary education institution currently operates three locations in Saudi Arabia. One additional training center will be opened throughout the coming 12 months.

In a 2-year training program, trainees study power plant maintenance, power plant operations, network maintenance and shielding methods. The organisation is being operated as a public private partnership. Having completed the 2-year training, the school graduates will be joining Saudi Arabic electric companies for the operation and maintenance of the national power system. The polytechnic school currently employs around 60 training instructors and staff.

In this challenging position, the candidate will be responsible for the academic and organizational management of the Technical Training Department at one of the schools locations. Your duties comprise the development and implementation of a long-term strategy for the technical department, the disciplinary management of around 30 teaching staff and the ongoing internal and external communication.

The position includes especially the following tasks:
- Development of a long-term strategy for the technical department.
- Disciplinary leadership / management of the technical department with approx. 30 teaching staff (current staff are especially from Australia, New Zealand and the UK).
- Development and implementation of quality management processes for the regular assessment and alignment of teaching programs.
- Development of a positive and motivating teaching and learning culture within the institution and between trainees and training staff.
- Management of the human resources within the technical department: Recruiting of new employees and development of the existing teaching staff.
- Management of budget resources for the achievement of financial targets.
- Further development and optimization of the IT landscape.
- Implementation of the duties of an Internal Verifier.

Requirements

- A tertiary education in Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 8 years of professional working experience in Power Engineering / Electrical Engineering.
- At least 5 years experience in the electrical supply industry educational sector.
- At least 3 years management level experience.
- Management experience in the educational sector would be a plus.
- Qualifications as Internal Verifier or Assessor would be a plus.
