OBJECTIVES:
Fulfilling a junior level role within team, providing leadership and mentoring to the team members in the field of safety.  To actively pursue international best practice and encourage the contractor to implement and maintain a high level of safety. To carry out and document all Safety Audits, required by Local Authorities and Hyder's Safety System and prepare monthly reports detailing Safety performance

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The main duties of the HSE Inspector include, but are not limited to:
o Maintains full financial awareness of the project
o Review and assess safety provisions in the contractors Work Method Statements
o Carry-out, record, document and issue daily, weekly & monthly site safety inspections and reports
o Prepare all accident and near miss safety reports for the review of
o Deputise for the Senior HSE Inspector as required.
o Review 'Permit to Work' applications
o Check proper maintenance and operation of all safety equipment
o Review, assess and report on site security, fire, First Aid and welfare facilities, and procedures appropriate to the Works are provided and properly maintained.
o Prepare and issue Safety Violation Notices
o Carry out accident and near miss investigations
o Assist and participate in construction related site safety training
o Set a high personal example of Health and Safety at all times.

Requirements

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:
Education /Minimum Qualifications
o Successful completion of a relevant Diploma/Certificate in appropriate Civil Engineering discipline from a recognised Tertiary Institution.
o Postgraduate qualifications from IOSH, NEBOSH or AHSE will be highly regarded. 
o Minimum of six (6) years postgraduate experience Knowledge of BS design standards
o Minimum of three (3) years full time related experience in the construction industry
o Familiarity with BS and international standards
Candidate Profile
o Good written and verbal communication skills.
o An ability to identify potential problems and propose solutions
o Ability to team build, organise staff and prioritise works
o Ability to work well within and lead a site based team of mixed nationalities
o Experience in Microsoft applications
o Ability to build rapport with work colleagues.
o Preferably possessing a valid Safety Training Certificates from a recognised organisation.
o Experience in supervising/managing Safety preferably in the construction field of piling/reinforced concrete/structural steel/road construction/bridge  construction/drainage/water supply/HVAC/ electrical installations
