Employment: Full Time

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Independently supplies advanced, specialized support services for Parsons Engineering Systems (ES). Performs advanced ES services that assure the engineering, design and operations functions of the Parsons Global Business Units (GBU) or individual projects have access to effective and efficient ES at all times and in all locations. Supports Parsons enterprise-wide Engineering Systems by providing expertise in a specific ES application or related area (E.g., licensing and compliance; application publishing and certification).
Closely coordinates specific application requests from engineering, validating technical system requirements to assist with Parsons software Verification and Validation (V &V) review process. Prepares and publishes ES-related applications for timely delivery to the enterprise and GBU. Maintains publishing schedules and other documentation to track progress within budget constraints. Provides technical guidance to other ES support staff members.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains highly specialized knowledge of engineering and design applications, often related to a specific engineering discipline (E.g., CAD, CIE and GIS, design collaboration systems [ProjectWise]; Building Information Modeling [BIM]; automation; engineering tools, processes and methodologies).
Analyzes Parsons immediate and long-term needs in their specialization areas and recommends appropriate engineering and design solutions that can best meet Parsons goals and business objectives, either by upgrading existing systems or installing a new system.
Provides support in the delivery, administration, customization and maintenance of a new engineering or design application in the area where they have specialized knowledge.
Provides support in upgrading, modifying or enhancing an existing engineering or design application in the assigned area of expertise.
Guarantees the operability and interoperability of ES systems by providing technical oversight of core systems and servers that align with specific enterprise ES products, including licensing management systems, collaboration systems, and other core ES delivery systems.
Supports Parsons technical ES requirements for large systems and major subsystems by preparing and delivering engineering and design applications that meet those delivery requirements.
May provide specialized discipline-specific configuration and commissioning services ranging from BIM to Plant Design Systems.
Develops complex workflows for engineering applications to meet project requirements for collaboration, work sharing (E.g., ProjectWise) or other specific ES applications.
Provides technical oversight for specific projects and tasks in a specialized areas of engineering or design applications.
May work with clients, subcontractors and business partners to develop, maintain and troubleshoot shared ES systems.
Identifies issues, questions and problems in developing or maintaining a large, complex ES systems and works with individual team members and the client to resolve those issues successfully.
Consults with other members of the ES team to identify and resolve questions, issues and problems related to specific design and engineering applications.
May provide technical direction to less-experienced ES and IT staff members.

Requirements

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Degree in Computer Science, information systems, engineering or related technical discipline, with experience in both engineering and IT. 6-10 years of progressive experience developing technical architecture and performing project management to meet specific ES-related business requirements, using collaborative engineering or application systems.

CERTIFICATIONS:

One or more of the following certifications preferred: PMP. Industry-related AEC certifications such as BIM or LEED. Vendor certifications (E.g., Autodesk, Bentley, Intergraph and ESRI). Microsoft Windows Operating systems (E.g., Microsoft Certified Engineer), SQL.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

A thorough understanding of the architecture and delivery of engineering, design applications, design collaboration systems and computer-aided engineering tools processes and methodologies (e.g., CAD , CIE or GIS).
Knowledge of applicable database and project software applications and technology.
A technical knowledge of the infrastructure required for engineering systems such as servers, advanced 2D/3D work stations, networks and associated systems.
A knowledge of the strategic impacts of enterprise initiatives that support engineering systems and architecture.
An understanding of either the Parsons ParStream environment (or similar virtualized system) or ProjectWise (or other engineering collaboration environments).
Knowledgeable in the design and use of workflows for engineering and design operations and production.
Experience developing and implementing complex engineering systems.
Requires knowledge of engineering requirements, user needs, system development and computer programming.
Good problem solving and analytical skills.
Written and oral communication skills appropriate for the position, including the ability to speak very well in basic professional situations and present technical data in a logical manner that is easy to understand (may include communication via telephone, in person, or presenting to small groups). Ability to write moderately complex documents (may include emails, memos, procedures, presentations).
Communicates with a wide variety of individuals (employees and managers) throughout the organization and outside of the organization (i.e. clients, vendors).
Ability to work independently, take the initiative in identifying and resolving issues, resourcefulness in finding practical solutions.
Close attention to detail and thoroughness.
