The RoleThe RoleJob Purpose: • Monitor and control all 200 IT Systems to deliver an effective enterprise backup solution • Action regular backups to ensure high levels of data security and to enable effective disaster recovery Responsibilities: • Responsible and accountable for All systems and archive backup • Implement company-wide backup system • Execute daily monitoring of backup tasks. Re-schedule to address contingencies. Troubleshoot • Create the new backup policy, schedule and assign the required resources to implement the policy • Install and upgrade the backup client and required APM plug-in • Coordinate with all application owners for back up and restore test • Ensure backup duplicated in off-site location successfully • Action the quarterly schedule for all types of backups to ensure DR availability • Regularly monitor the library, tape drive and back up server logs • In the case of server failure, restore the backup server with all required configuration • Liaise with hardware and software suppliers to resolve issues • Execute and monitor change control processes • Document all changes and develop the SOP • Monitor and control servers, storage networks and storage infrastructure for the Smelter, Administration Areas, Power Plant and Smelter Power Operations • Implement repairs, replacements and upgrades. Minimize down-time • Perform daily monitoring on servers and storage hardware for BMS, MES and RTS. Troubleshoot • Execute proactive fault-finding, fault-prevention and environmental control for servers and storage logs • Monitor and control IP addresses for servers and SAN VLANs • Coordinate supplies and activities with server and storage support partner for support-related issues and achieve resolution • Test and update the firmware of servers and storage hardware • Evaluate systems. Recommend upgrades where necessary. Implement the approved upgrade plan • Execute and monitor change control processes • Monitor and control the environment and access to the data centers • Plan, organize and control scheduled maintenance and shut-down • Development and maintenance of SOPs • Liaise closely with departments to determine shut-down timetable and priorities. |
RequirementsRequirements• Degree in IT or Computer Science with 7 years experience in various technology • Certified with Backup software • Certified DR professional • Microsoft and storage certification is added advantage • Good knowledge of backup and DRP concepts • In-depth knowledge of backup terminology • Knowledge of database structure (SQL, Oracle, Exchange) • Good knowledge of storage devices (High complexity and many interdependency) • Good knowledge of systems hardware • Good understanding of the tools applied to monitor device health and performance • Skilled in executing change requests • Skilled in maintaining and monitoring the backup system • Skilled in problem-solving • Skilled in communicating with business owners , users and vendors • Knowledgeable in DRP implementation • Knowledgeable in managing support contracts • Able to train and coach others • Some knowledge of business case development • Some knowledge of budgeting • Some knowledge of the techniques to coach and develop others |
