Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

PURPOSE:
This position works closely with all staff in the organisation to develop and implement IT strategies to meet immediate and long-term business objectives. The position also provides desktop support to all staff in the organisation for a diverse range of systems and applications.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Identify and resolve problems related to network infrastructure, hardware components, operating systems, and business software and office productivity applications.
- Ensure integrity of records management system.
- Ensure integrity of financial system.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of Information Systems policies and procedural manuals.
- Supervise preventative maintenance programs and system upgrades.
- Ensure integrity of databases is maintained.
- Maintain regular housekeeping procedures, including data backup.
- Analyse the information needs of the organisation and develop technological solutions to satisfy those needs.
- Manage the distribution and retention of data on various storage devices.
- Provide assistance in testing new equipment and systems.
- Provide training in systems use and access.
- Continuously monitor and maintain system access and security.
- Determine current and future information system needs by consulting with people at all levels.
- Prepare systems cost estimates and cost-benefit analyses.
- Manage implementation of new information systems.
- Provide advice to senior management on IT issues and planning.
- Implement and facilitate the achievement of outcomes in accordance with management practice including financial/human resource delegations and relevant legislation.
- This position works collaboratively with key stakeholders to achieve required outcomes within established practices and guidelines. This position acts as a point of reference providing expert advice on IT systems implementation, maintenance, planning, industry trends and provides recommendations on system infrastructure.
- This position makes decisions on expenditure within delegation and provides advice to senior management on expenditure beyond delegation.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a relevant degree in Information Technology with relevant related experience in a similar organisation.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- Strong IT strategic focus.
- Proven track record in IT project management.
- Knowledge and skills in package evaluation, vendor/contractor management and process re-engineering.
- Strong user focus and genuine desire to assist.
- Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Good communication skills.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills, and ability to manage varied and conflicting demands to agreed standards and timelines.
- Can do attitude when handling complex situations.
- Results oriented and strong analysis and problem solving skills.

TECHNICAL SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Database admininstration and replication.
- MSCE CCNA CCNP ITIL Foundations.
- MS Exchange 2007.
- HP Insight.
- Altirus RDP.
- Symantec BE12x.
- SQL, (MSSQL, Firebird, Interbase and Informix.
- UNIX, FreeBSD, Linux (Redhat).
- Squid (Proxy Cache).
- WiFi 802.11x.
