IT Network Manager

Job description / Role

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in the planning and implementation of additions, deletions and major modifications to the supporting the school infrastructure.
• Implements network security and establishes guidelines to maintain internet and data security.
• Oversees the administration and maintenance of the server and school technology equipment.
• Oversees the administration of the school’s LAN and WAN and WiFi.
• Manages and develops upgrades to the telephone system as appropriate.
• Oversees all IT servicing contracts and repairs.
• Manages the network and the school learning and parent platforms.
• Interacts with staff to help resolve IT-related issues and provides answers in a timely manner.
• Oversees the administration and maintenance of computer stations and software.
• Oversees troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provides expert support when necessary. Works with project teams to help implement internal systems.

Asset Management
• Creates and manages annual IT procurement budget.
• Ensures that company assets are maintained responsibly.
• Builds and maintains vendor relationships and manages the purchase of hardware and software products.

Project Management
• Manages day to day operation of the IT infrastructure and development.
• Supports the development of new IT projects and development reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
• Effectively applies our methodology and enforces project standards
• Prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures
• Ensures project documents are complete, current stored appropriately. Minimizes exposure and risk on project.

Communication, Development and Teamwork
• Keeps staff well informed of changes within the organisation and general school news.
• Effectively communicates relevant IT-related information to ream leaders using engaging, informative, well-organised presentation.
• Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
• Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.

Requirements

Education
• Requires a college degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited university.

Experience
• Requires three to five years of general computer network experience
• School based experience would be advantageous

Specialised Knowledge
• Must have thorough understanding of LAN/WAN (networking) installation, administration, and on-going maintenance.
• Must have a thorough understanding of MS applications, including operating systems and software (such as MS Office 2000).

Skills
• Prefer certifications in Microsoft applications.
• Must have the ability to solve problems of low to medium complexity.
• Must be multi-task oriented with proven ability to manage several active projects simultaneously.
• Must be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
• Due to access to company sensitive information, must be able to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion.
• Must be able to anticipate internal client needs and maintain good working relationships with users and management.
• Requires proficiency in various software applications and programs.
• Requires ability to communicate in English, both verbally and written.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
