Riyadh Metro Transit Consultant (RMTC)

The IT Support Technician is a member of a larger RMTC project larger IT team that is accountable for ensuring continuity of the IT system services on the Riyadh Metro project.

The IT Support Technician will provide technical support for the installation, repair and maintenance of personal computers, workstations, associated software and related hardware used by the project team.

This is a hands-on role so the ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate a successful track record in a similar environment. The chosen candidate will be able to successfully perform in a changing and fast paced environment and will have the ability to communicate at all levels.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Providing in-person or remote technical support for the installation, repair and preventive maintenance of personal computers, individual workstations and related software and hardware as well as telecom circuits including configuration management and code upgrades
- Supporting operations and providing hands on as well as remote support to the Riyadh Metro Project and related site office(s) as deemed necessary which includes but not limited to PC support, server support, network support, network equipment installation and de-installation, local voice system and Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) support e.g. iPhone
- Working with vendor support contacts (when necessary) to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software
- Installing, configuring & setup equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation and troubleshooting of Windows based desktops operating systems, and appropriate application software including but not limited to Windows 7, Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2007/2010
- Documenting and providing status reports on site issues and incident tickets (HP Service Manager)
- Providing orientation to end users to follow standards, policies and procedures for the use of individual computer and associated hardware and software
- Regularly follows up with end users to ensure that questions, issues and problems have been resolved to the users satisfaction

Requirements

Essential
- Degree or professional qualification in Computer Science (or any IT related subject)
- Minimum 7 years post-graduate IT related work experience (or 9 years for non degree holders)
- Practical experience in PC/Server Configuration & Installations, Operating Systems (Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and 2008/2012 Servers), Networking (General - TCP/IP, Basic Router and VPN Configuration, Firewall Configuration & Managed Switch Configuration)
- Strong knowledge of personal computer technology, including a variety of computer models, printers and peripherals
- Working knowledge of Active Directory hierarchy, user account creation and modification, group policies and administrative rights
- Ability to identify, analyze and resolve common technical issues, questions and problems with standard workstation, hardware and software configurations
- Experienced in providing support to end users, working in an IT support role or working in a MIS environment
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, work independently and under pressure in an rapidly changing environment
- Must be a team player and able to do multitasking job


Desirable
- Industry recognized certifications such as Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
