In-House Insurance Controller

Job description / Role

Established local group providing business support services require an in house insurance controller. This position is solely responsible for managing the Company’s insurance portfolio – involving all aspects of underwriting, risk management, contracts, and claims recovery.

Job Responsibilities

• Providing insurance technical support to Senior Management Team on matters relating to underwriting, risk management, contractual obligations and claims recovery
• Independently prepare insurance Tender specifications and negotiate appropriate types and levels of insurance covers (including customized policy wordings) at cost effective terms.
• Independently verify premiums and compile complex statistical data and declarations as per requirements of insurers and Management.
• Evaluate various exclusions in the company’s insurance covers and the probability of risk on the same.
• Independently initiate claims notification and surveys – leading up to loss adjustment and full recovery of claims under the relevant Corporate insurances.
• Evaluate risks and exposures emanating under Contracts for the purpose of drafting and negotiating appropriate insurance clauses under Contracts with external parties.
• Maintain complete database of all insurance policies handled by the department, updating the same on regular basis and ensuring timely renewal of all policies.
• Custodian of the Group Risk Management Process including the Risk Register.

The successful respondent must have a solid understanding of the following: Insurances CAR/TPL, Contractors Plant & Equipment, Motor Vehicle, Professional Indemnity, Medical Insurance, Property All Risk/Fire & Allied Perils, Money & Fidelity Insurance, General Liability, Group Life & PA and Towages
