The RoleThe RoleOur client is a large local group who are looking for a dynamic, driven, motivated in house legal counsel to join their legal team. The Legal Counsel will be responsible for assisting the Group General Counsel and Legal Advisor with a variety of matters relating to business activities and the development of the companies legal function. |
RequirementsRequirementsDescription Providing timely, proactive and efficient support to the General Counsel Reviewing tender documents and contracts/agreements from various clients for conformity to company policies by providing amendments to draft contracts/agreements and other tender documents Drafting template contracts and agreements to be implemented by the business units and central services teams and added to legal data base Conducting contract negotiation, review and drafting supplier contracts and or agreements Maintaining records of contract renewal dates, processes and procedures. Following checklists and ensuring that all contract reviews and renewals are accurately saved and updated on central systems Ensuring approvals for unacceptable provisions in contracts are obtained, making annotations on the contracts for final review of the General Counsel, if required Reviewing final contracts before signature Conducting ad-hoc research Liaising with the various business units and central services in particular PROs, Procurement, Insurance and Finance departments Ensuring that other departments understand their responsibilities under the contract, advising and giving further explanation where required in relation to legal risk and liability Providing the legal team (and others) with documentation of researched agency and consultancy agreements Providing support in respect of commercial matters and transactional work including possible joint ventures and/or the incorporation of new entities Promoting and attending to strong corporate governance across business as necessary, including drafting of relevant policies and documents including board minutes and powers of attorney Liaising with external legal advisers Coordinating renewal of trade licenses and other licenses required by the various business units and obtaining any additional licenses as required Requirements Law degree (including completion of practical training course or equivalent) Native English speaker Work experience internationally and in UAE Min 5 years legal work experience Min 2 years experience in-house in a commercial business |
