JOB SUMMARY

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, a 365 bed hospital and attached multispecialty clinic, seeks an experienced infection control practitioner to join the Department of Quality and Patient Safety. While the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi building is being completed, responsibilities will center on developing policies, procedures and protocols for a robust infection control program. The candidate will ensure the program addresses all Health Authority of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirate and Joint Commission International requirements. After hospital completion the candidate will be a member of a three person infection control work team that will be responsible for conducting epidemiologic and surveillance programs, and developing and presenting orientation and in-service infection control programs for medical and non-medical staff.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Investigates clusters and/or surveillance programs in departments and areas related to patient care activities

Investigates clusters and/or epidemics of infection

Develops infection control policies and procedures

Develops and presents orientation and in-service programs for medical and non-medical staff that provide patient care and/or patient related services

Provides professional consultation and assistance on infection control to the medical staff and non-medical departments

Evaluates and recommends equipment for patient care areas as it relates to infection control

Participates in developing and implementing policies relating to employee health

Requirements


Requirements


Minimum of four (4) years experience in a medical or surgical nursing or infection control position is required
Knowledge of basic principles of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, sterilization and disinfection
Knowledge of teaching and learning principles necessary for developing, implementing and coordinating effective infection control programs
Demonstrated leadership skills
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to speak and write in English is required
Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred
Health care industry experience is preferred
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Microbiology, or related field, is required
Successful completion of a specialist training program of at least six (6) months duration is required
Current national license is required
