Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Inspector Hazardous & General Safety is a supervisory role. The incumbent supervises, monitors, controls Sidras safety program and ensures safety compliance with national and international standards; evaluates (through on-site inspections) the level of hazardous and general safety at the facility, originates and recommends corrective action if needed and ensures compliance with all applicable codes and standards. He/ She participates in designing programs to prevent and reduce safety incidents.

KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Conducts field inspections, assessments and reviews as needed and provides enforcement actions to bring non-compliant instances into compliance.
- Keeps current on the chemical inventory for all facility divisions and also on the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all facility divisions and ensures proper labeling and storage for all chemicals in the facility.
- Drives process improvements in inspection activities.
- Assists the management in developing safety policies & procedures and updating them as necessary and provides day-to-day supervision to professional and technical level staff.
- Conducts safety compliance investigations for proper operation and maintenance to ensure compliance to international standards.
- Collects, compiles and communicates data and findings and recommends courses of action.
- Analyzes and interprets results, recommends appropriate corrective actions, communicates results and follows up on issues or concerns until completion.
- Responsible for implementing safety plans and meets safety goals and objectives to continuously improve the overall Sidra safety performance.
- Responds to a variety of environmental/safety inquiries and complaints and provides recommendations for addressing environmental/safety issues.
- Prepares reports pertaining to inspection data, monitoring results and enforcement actions.
- Updates databases with relevant inspection-related information, develops tables, graphics, figures of findings.
- Completes and enters a variety of forms, logs, and reports detailing test results based on operating procedures.
- Handles and labels tools, materials and equipment according to safety and operational principles and practices
- Responsible for handling and labeling hazardous materials based on area of assignment.
- Assists with maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Ensures compliance with applicable international and local regulations as well as Sidras policies.
- Assists in conducting site investigations for all environmental incidents
- Coordinates the collection, transportation and storage of hazardous waste materials.
- Ensures compliance with Hazardous Waste Disposal local and international standards.
- Adheres to Sidras standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health Science/Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety or related degree.
- 5+ years experience in a health and safety environment with 2+ years experience in a supervisory role.
- Complete technical knowledge of occupational health and safety
- Excellent knowledge of OSHA
- Broad knowledge covering general safety and hazardous materials areas
- Understands national and international safety standards, applicable regulatory codes and requirements
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to generate and prepare reports
- Ability to follow-up, archive and document in an efficient manner
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Fluency in written and spoken English
