Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

PURPOSE:
The Inspectors are assigned to assist the engineers in charge on the execution of the works on the project. They are to report directly to the engineer in charge of the relevant section of work on the project.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensure performance of the work in strict accordance with the plans and specification.
- Maintain a detailed diary of the day work activities, issues, work approved or rejected, hours of operations, labour and equipment used, etc.
- Coordinate with the Contractors site engineer in charge of the work on a daily basis to check on the proper execution of the work.
- Coordinate and arrange for sampling and testing of satisfactory completed work, and quality assurance testing of suspect materials.
- Coordinate with the survey party chief to check the line and grade of completed work for conformance with the plans and specifications.
- Report questionable methods of operations by the Contractor to the engineer in charge.
- Report to the engineer in charge any failure of the Contractor to conform to plans and specifications and to provide good workmanship.
- Ensure that the works are being constructed to the latest construction and shop drawings.
- Process the joint measurement forms and maintain records of their status.
- Maintain records of completed work for interim and final payment and as-built drawings/ plans.
- Make special notes and document the Contractor activities that may lead to claims.
- Carry out inspections of the Works when requested by the Contractor (through RINs) to check compliance with plans and specifications.
- Notify the engineer in charge of conditions that render it more impractical or unreasonable to enforce the specifications.
- Report and document any accident that occurs on site and notify the engineer in charge immediately.
- Enforce performance of the work in strict accordance with the approved safety plan.
- Check detours and traffic control zones for proper placement of signs, barricades and lights.
- Ensure that works are compliant with the Contractors HSE plan at all times.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering with 10 years of relevant experience or Bachelor in Civil Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience in construction of marine structures and civil works.
- Knowledge of inspection test plans and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of the company's Quality, Health & Safety policy.
- Work experience with consultants for Inspection of total construction activities on site.
- Knowledge of sampling and testing of construction materials.

TECHNICAL SKILLS/ABILITY:
- Good computer skills, e.g. MS Word and MS Excel.
- Demonstrated report writing skills of a high calibre
- Excellent communication and team skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Able to work to deadlines and under pressure.
- Good problem solving skills & creative thinking (innovation).
- Takes accountability for assigned work.
