About the Business

Description and Desired Qualifications

Project / business overview
Construction supervision of a new runway, link taxiways, aircraft parking apron and associated airfield lighting and civil works at Mukhaizna Oilfield - Sultanate of Oman

Key role objective

The Inspector of Works will be responsible for direct supervision of the construction works at site to achieve the specified standards.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Detailed supervision and check of the Contractor's work as directed by the Resident Engineer.

Intimate knowledge of the relevant specifications for the part of the Contract being supervised.

Keeping a detailed and neat diary of all major activities and all important observations on site and on other places where his presence in connection with the job is required.

Preparation of a daily report to the Resident Engineer on the contractor's activities. The report shall be presented to the Resident Engineer at the end of each working day and normally before the Inspector leaves the construction site.

Completion of the various forms, documenting the quality and progress of the various sections and areas of the construction work in accordance with the relevant supervision procedure.

Reporting of all problems in connection with the work to the Resident Engineer.

Deal with any other duties as may be assigned from time to time from the RE.

Ensure that HS&E are in compliance with the Contract agreement i.e. Ministry of Environment and HSE plan towards the site personnel as well as to the public.

Ensure that the quality of the work is delivered according to the Halcrow's Safety Management Plan / Quality Plan, PMS and to the satisfaction of the Client.

Key requirements

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff (RE and ARE) and external Contractor.

Self starter and team player.

Monitoring and supervisory skills.

Must have comprehensive experience in large scale project on similar role.


Minimum qualifications

The ideal candidate must have:

Bachelor Degree in the type of works to be inspected.

Depending on years of relevant work experience the minimum relevant years, a lesser degree, or non-degree individual may be considered on merit.

+8 years of relevant work experience
