Institutional Intelligence Officer - Intern

Job description / Role

The Institutional Intelligence Officer will support the Director in four functions in institutional intelligence at JU: i) Stakeholder Satisfaction Survey Support; ii) Tracer Study Support; iii) Benchmarking Support and iv) Research Data Management. The key responsibility is to provide on-going coordination through a direct consultative approach, establish practices and ultimately facilitate data gathering and analysis for decision support at JU.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assists in the scheduling of the stakeholder satisfaction research program each year.
- Assists in the design, pre-test and review of stakeholder satisfaction survey instruments.
- Assists with the implementation of stakeholder satisfaction surveys (of students, employees, alumni and employers experiences) in accordance with institutional research program.
- Collects, enters and analyzes data from stakeholder satisfaction survey projects.
- Prepares data tables, graphs, charts and related diagrammatic data representations.
- Assists in scheduling tracer studies e.g. to track graduate employability and placement.
- Assists in the design, pre-test and review of tracer studies.
- Assists with the implementation of tracer studies.
- Collects, enters and analyzes data from tracer studies.
- Prepares data tables, graphs, charts and related diagrammatic data representations.
- Conducts desk research and mystery shopping activities to compare JU operations with other HEIs and corporations in the UAE.
- Assists with preparation of comparative data reports to show HEI trends in the MENA region.
- Assists with preparation of MOHESR CHEDS and CAA statistical reports.
- Prepares reports for dissemination to key JU decision-makers (Board of Trustees, Committees, Taskforces, Chief Officers etc).
- Disseminates data to PIEU employees for assessments, internal audits and compliance activities in accordance with the data release policy and guidelines.
- Maintains a JU data digest/repository on institutional research results.
- Maintains key data sets and reports on the JU intranet for access by line managers in accordance with the data release policy and guidelines.
- Provides advice on the interpretation of data to employees in accordance with the data release policy and guidelines.
- Executes activities when allocated within one of the University Taskforce Teams or special assignment.
- Participates in the PIEUs learning events and shares knowledge with colleagues within and outside the Unit in accordance with JU policies and practices.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, sociology, psychology, business administration or related discipline with a focus on research and quantitative methods from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 1 year professional experience in a research role (e,g, educational, social, business, operational or market research) within a reputable medium-sized organization.
- Strong organization skills with ability to multi-task.
- Very good communication skills in English. Proficiency in Arabic would be a distinct advantage.
- Particular expertise in designing, conducting and analyzing research; experience working in research intensive establishments; experience with working with databases; experience working in education or training contexts a distinct advantage.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills.
- Familiarity with statistical software packages such as SPSS.
- Technical report writing and MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio and Project software) skills at intermediary level.
- Strong planning, negotiating and project management skills are required.
