Instrument Engineer

Job description / Role

Maintain the plant instrumentation, DCS, ESD, FGS, PLC, Analyzers, machine monitoring system and package instruments and control system and maximize their availability for uninterrupted plant operation by following different maintenance strategies and proper job and spares planning. To be involved in the planning of work as per plant priority. Implementation of plant modifications to improve plant reliability and add value to maintenance tasks.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY

Strategic:
* Prepare instrument maintenance procedures and plans.
* Candidate should be well versed with power plant control/instrumentation systems, ABB INFI 90 DCS preferably
* Handling different types of field instrumentation maintenance e.g. (Pressure, Temperature, Level, Flow measurement devices, different types of control valves, motor operated valves, Actuators.
* Root Cause Analysis and trouble shooting of instrumentation. Modification of control circuits and/or control loops as per the plant change requests and update all related plant drawings to reflect the actual changes.
* Review and maintain spares for plant instruments and analyzers to have uninterrupted plant operation.
* Plan and implement plant modifications to improve plant reliability and add value to maintenance tasks.
* Supervise in-house and vendor / contractor personal to ensure completion of jobs in time.
* Contribute to design and review of modification proposals.
* Update documentation after a design change.
* Coordinate with planning department to create equipment history in SAP for all instrumentation.
* Coordinate with internal, external facilities for smooth function of instruments.
* Improve the system with latest information and ensure its implementation to have continuous progress.
* Analyze chronic problems and find suitable and effective solution with minimum downtime

Operational:
* Experience in power /water desalination plant (working in gas turbine combined cycle plant, preference will be given for those who work for Siemens/AnsaldoV94.2, and ABB design Steam turbine).
* Execute preventive maintenance as per SAP plan and equipment requirements.
* Ensure availability of certified test equipment.
* Execute turn around jobs as per plan and schedule.
* Monitoring and trouble shooting of plant instruments and analyzers.
* Minimize equipment down time.
* Implement modification proposal to improve the plant efficiency.
* PLC program trouble shooting and modification.
* Ensure safe working at all times through appropriate safety initiatives.
* Work closely with production department to improve the operability of equipment and plant operation.

People Management:
* Training subordinates.
* Monitoring the performance of subordinates and identify the training needs.

Requirements

* Degree in Electronic or Instrumentation Engineering
* 10 years experience in either Power & Water / Oil & Gas / Petrochemical industries of which 5 years has been in supervisory position
* PLC (programmable logic controller) preferably SIEMENS SIMETIC S7, HIMA H51Q PLC and SCADA control system
* Different types of analyzers e.g. PH, conductivity, oxygen, chlorine, alkalinity. Awareness of stack monitoring system (CEMS) will be preferable.
* Engica or similar CMMS system
* Honeywell DCS, ESD, FGS and Siemens PLC systems
* Knowledge of ISA and IEC standards
* Knowledge of SAP PM modules
* Knowledge of Gas Chromatograph Analyzers
