The Role


The Role


Role synopsis:

Successful applicants will first undergo a Technician Training Programme at a Training centre in Muscat followed by hands on site training.

You will receive intensive instruction and coaching in English language, technical aspects of Oil & Gas industry and health & safety training.

Upon successful graduation from the training programme the candidate will work as Technician at an operational facility with expected tenure in the role for not less than 5 years.

Work conditions will imply manual handling, working at heights, exposure to safety critical roles, remote locations and emergency response duties.

Key accountabilities:

Upon completion of the training, technicians would be allocated to site working a 2 on 2 off rotation and be accountable for:
Maintaining all instrument devices located at site associated areas within the Maintenance strategy.
Instrument Technician is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the facility control systems such as: Fire and Gas Systems, Emergency Shutdown systems and general Instrumentation (Pressure, Level, Temperature and Flow measurement and other metering systems).
Upon completion of the training program and allocation to the site the technician will:
Be aware of BP Oman Region Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) structure and help implementing HSSE plans and procedures;
Observe safe working practices within the facility and workshop areas and ensure that applicable safety, as well as environmental procedures and regulations are observed;
Ensure that all installation, isolation and repair work is carried out according to the applicable codes of practice and company standards;
Perform maintenance, repair and testing of a wide variety of control and electronic equipment and systems;
Perform efficient remedial action to correct control malfunctions on a 24-hour basis;
Conform with and sign work permits in cooperation with other permit authorities and operators onsite;
involved in troubleshooting and repair of burner management, combustion controls, turbine controls, diagnostic monitoring and environmental monitoring equipment, etc;
Perform planned maintenance activities as required by the integrated maintenance plan in a safe manner to persons and the facility;
Understand the inventory and Maximo system;
Perform Task Auditing, sign Isolation Confirmation Certificates (ICC) and Permits to Work when authorized;
Ensure personal and formal risk assessments (where required) are carried out before the start of work;
Prepare plant equipment for control isolation's;
Maintain accurate logs, reports, and handover reports; of all station control activities recording data from gauges and meters as required.
Ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the facility.
Requirement of working in remote locations.
Ongoing Training and developed will be given to achieve full Competence in approximately 5 years.
