Instrumentation Design Engineer

Job description / Role

Job Objective:

Supports the Design Management team in performing design reviews and conventional and moderately-complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses. The Instrumentation Engineer at this level is proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Responsible to ensure the correct implementation of the project quality plan and quality procedures and productivity related to all instrumentation and SCADA works.

Key Accountabilities:

- Performs reviews of engineering and design/calculations for Electrical and Instrument equipment/systems and services for detailing scope and provides instrumentation engineer reviews of design submittals commensurate with the various phases of design and review coding.
- Reviews supplier drawing submittals and data sheets, wiring diagrams, singe line diagrams, P&IDs and performs technical bid analyses as assigned by the Senior Instrumentation Engineer.
- Reviews Consultants specifications, data sheets, conceptual P&IDs and panel drawings and other control system documents for Electrical, Instrument, and Telecommunication equipment and bulk materials as necessary.
- Support the Senior Instrumentation Engineer in reviewing the proposed design and control systems and provide technical guidance to CAD Technicians.
- Reviews the scope of instrumentation and control work according to the contract and monitors progress of instrumentation and control design work by others and analyze data and present findings in written reports.
- Supports the Senior Instrumentation Engineer in Troubleshooting and problem-solving and performing other tasks as deemed necessary as related to instrumentation and control systems.
- Works collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers and other internal staff.
- Understands all related instrumentation codes, standards and best practices and their application to the project. Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities.

Requirements

- BSc degree in Electrical or instrumentation and controls engineering or equivalent.
- 8 years broad experience in instrumentation detailed engineering and design on large industrial or infrastructure projects.
- GCC experience is preferred.
- Broad knowledge and experience with of I&C equipment, hardware, software, and products design of in large industrial or infrastructure projects including preparation of P&I.D.s, specifications, data sheets, instrument and cable lists, detailed design, procurement, control philosophy in an engineering department or consulting firm, complemented by practical experience in installation, commissioning, operations and maintenance.
- Up Io-date knowledge of industry best practices, international code s/ standards in MEP/ BMS/ automation and controls
- Fluent in English, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
