Internal Audit Compliance Officer

Job description / Role

- Schedule the visit to auditees location in order to ensure compliance of assignments and processes with the internal audit recommendations.
- Track compliance of recommendations provided by the internal audit department on a timely basis.
- Ensure that the auditee has taken actions as agreed during finalization of audit and verify if dispensation was obtained for actions not taken.
- Review the updates provided by the auditee Departments/ Branches in the Recommendation Tracking Module in Audit Management System and update IAD comments where relevant in consultation with concerned audit managers.
- Obtain adequate and sufficient evidence for the procedures carried out and for the status arrived.
- Report to AGM IAD any compliance lapses of an unusual and alarming nature which require urgent attention on an immediate basis.
- Prepare status reports upon completion of the system update, detailing status of its compliance with internal audit recommendations vis-a-vis as agreed by the auditee during report finalization.
- Complete the working paper file and provide it for review immediately after the system update process is completed.
- Prepare a quarterly status report on all the internal audit recommendations for compliance (outstanding/overdue) segregating it into High, Medium and Low recommendations.
- Prepare all periodic reports or any adhoc reports on compliance as required by the audit committee, CEO and AGM IAD.
- Maintain independence and objectivity in work.
- Attend trainings and seminars as decided by the Internal Audit Management.
- Perform any other related task as assigned by the Head of Internal Audit.

Requirements

- Should be a degree holder; Finance background and/ or Audit qualifications /certifications would be added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years Banking experience is required.
- Candidates with previous work experience in areas related to internal control, compliance or audit are preferred.
- Omani National Preferred.
- Should be able to identify the compliance requirements relating to audit findings and communicate them properly to the concerned auditees for compliance.
- Should have the ability to review auditees on-going compliance responses and recognize the areas that can be considered complied and closed.
- Should possess very good written communication skills in English to make appropriate audit review comments.
- Should be able to independently handle audit management system for regular compliance tracking activities.
- Should be well conversant with CBO rules and regulations, Banks Internal Policies and procedures and Omani Laws in general governing general Banking Operations.
- Be prepared to visit different work locations to review compliance status of outstanding audit recommendations when required.
- Should be proactive in learning new developments in the field of Internal Auditing, enthusiastic in acquiring knowledge and applying them in audit compliance work.
- Should be a good team player and be able to professionally carry out job functionalities while maintaining independence, objectivity and work ethics of the Internal Audit Function.
