Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

To represent CBI and its subsidiaries or affiliated companies (the “Group”) before the government authorities, courts, Police Department for follow up of pending cases and to attend court as and when required for hearing litigation / criminal cases. To provide legal advices to all organization units on legal matters related to litigation and out of court disputes ensuring that the Group’s risk is covered from all angles and is legally protected from any losses.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Review and if necessary draft and amend statements to the courts and other competent authorities or out of court disputes in relation to civil and criminal litigation.
• Coordinate with other internal departments to retrieve and establish evidences to support the litigation proceedings.
• Follow up for all updates related to litigation proceedings and coordinate with external lawyers to draw and agree on claim and defense strategies in relation to litigation cases in order to fully protect the interests of the Group.
• Support the external lawyers and attend the meetings with the court experts appointed in the cases under litigation, and facilitate their missions and provide them with the necessary documents and clarifications that required enhancing the case progress.
• Ensure that all payments of the lawyer’s fees are in line with the fees that officially agreed.
• Provide such legal advices to the Group including all divisions and departments on a regular basis on all legal matters, documentation and clarification of technical issues related to litigation and, if required by your manager, all other matters of legal concern to the Group.
• Represents the Group on all matters relating to legalization of documents such as notarization, mortgaging, land registration etc. and ensures that these legalizations are authenticated by the competent authority of Government / Courts, and any other authorized body.
• Prepares mortgage contracts, or review these contacts when prepared by a third party.
• Responds to or follow up on action with the Court / Government Regulation Authorities / Central Banks on various legal queries / issues related to Group customers like attachments / blocking of accounts etc. in order to avoid legal obligations towards respective customers in the event of death, disability, bankruptcy etc., and protect the Group from any losses.
• Perform any other duties or responsibilities consistent with the role as assigned by line manager, the Head of Department or the Group’s management.

• Bachelors degree in law
Professional / Technical Qualifications / Diplomas:

Experience:
• Minimum 5 years legal experience of which at least 3 years should be with reputed law firm or legal department of a financial institutions.

Other Skills Required for the Job:

• Knowledge and experience with Company Law / UAE Laws, Judgments (Courts) and Doctrines
• Track records of handling variety of legal matters and recovery of debts
• High proficiency verbal and communication skills in Arabic and English
• Negotiation skills to deal with customers for out of court settlements
• PC skills (MS Office, Internet)
• Planning and organizing skills
• Interpersonal / communication skills
