Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Laboratory Foreman (Offshore based 28 days on and 28 days off rotation - single status contract)

A multi skilled position requiring the incumbent to conduct all laboratory activities offshore; including sampling / analysis, result interpretation / corrections and reporting, as the core skill.

Additionally conducts basic outside operator tasks as and when required. Maintain all laboratory equipment ensuring it is up to date and to required standards. Monitor and maintain the RO water quality within the specifications and take ownership to troubleshoot whenever off spec condition arises. Maintain certification within standard. Ensure the availability of laboratory equipment.

Perform all necessary daily / special analysis related to process gas and utility chemicals in an efficient and timely manner, reporting any discrepancy or abnormal result to production supervisor. Conduct routine checks of the plant operating conditions including recording readings and checking running equipment, in accordance with set schedules.

Monitor plant operations on site and ensure safety aspects, integrity of hydrocarbon and water analysis, supply of consumables and sampling bottles, sterile equipment and other associated equipment processes are being adhered to. Record samples, results of analysis, plotting of significant results and provides to production supervisor. Operate, monitor, start and stop pumps and rotating equipment in accordance with set procedures and supervisors instructions.

Conduct process isolations as requested by supervisor in accordance with set procedures. Opens and shuts various valves manually. Provide guidance, recommendations and training to process and wellhead operators in sampling techniques and the use of laboratory equipment.

Optimize all aspects of chemical use (dosage, selection of products, methods). Assesses the efficiency of chemical treatment the gas and condensate. Continuous improvement and maintaining ISO standards.

Requirements

Chemical Engineering Technician / Technologist or equivalent together with minimum of 6 to 8 years laboratory experience in the Oil & Gas industry or similar with offshore exposure.

Varied operational expertise and ability to undertake complex troubleshooting. Excellent knowledge in written and spoken English.

Computer literacy and Reporting skills required.
