Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Perform routine and specialized tests in one or various sections of the clinical laboratory, independently or with minimal supervision.
Recognizes the clinical significance of each test performed and reports results within established time frames.
Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with all individuals as necessary to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, and elicit cooperation.
Participate in receiving and processing specimens as required by respective laboratory area procedures and protocols.
Perform a variety of routine and complex blood drawing procedures including veni-puncture, finger and heel sticks, blood cultures.
Prepare reagents, used in the processing of specimens.
Assist in training new personnel; provide technical assistance to new employees.
Perform routine maintenance as required by laboratory procedures.
Perform various quality control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
Participate in the development of new procedures, techniques and equipment used in obtaining and handling laboratory specimens.
Participate in creating and maintaining lab procedures.
Assist with office tasks including ordering of laboratory supplies and maintaining office records.
Is able to perform minor trouble-shooting on instrumentation.
Assures a clean work area and technical clean-up at the end of each shift.
Maintains complete confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an approved college or university
Current DHA license to practice as Laboratory Technologist in Dubai
Five years working experience in various sections like clinical microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, hematology & Blood Bank
Knowledge of laboratory terminology and equipment as applied in the specific and related areas of specialization
Knowledge of methods of preparing stains, solutions, and media
Phlebotomy experience will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of training and supervisory techniques, and employee policies and procedures.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of Computers and Laboratory Information System.
Working knowledge of Quality Control Standards & applications.
Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols.
Should be able to work flexible hours as per requirement of the department.
