Landscape FM Engineer

Job description / Role

The Engineer is responsible for implementing required work in an efficient safe manner while at the highest quality. This includes: the ability to work off of a landscape design, strong communication skills, managing crew members, good organizational skills, general knowledge of plant material, specifications, Installation details and a detailed know how of clients requirements.

To work in close contact with the landscape architects to ensure a proper design as per the clients requirements which are best suitable to the infrastructure containing suitable plants for that particular areas.

Participate in reviewing the design from operational point of view.

Selection of plant material according to the climatic conditions , classification of Plants, Botanical names, common names, size, age and origin.

Review and advise soil analysis results for all soils to be used for landscaping purposes and to provide recommendations on soil amendment, soil reclamation, fertilizer application after conforming soil analysis report including but not limited to Total salts, Soil ph, Exchangeable Sodium, Calcium, magnesium Potassium and other available macro and micro nutrients.

Review and advise on the calculation of irrigation requirements according to the plant material.

Review and advise on the recommendations for salinity control

Supervise the installation and maintenance of automatic irrigation system.

Supervise the soil preparation and plantation operations including final grading keeping in view the soil specification standards separately mentioned for palm trees, ornamental trees, shrubs ,ground covers, seasonal flowers and grass

Review the procedure followed for Turf Grass management including mowing procedures, aeration, scarification, top dressing etc.

Review and approve the procedure followed by contractors to conduct plant protection operations including mechanical ,chemical and biological control by knowing classification of insects, diseases, insecticides, Fungicides and insect growth regulators (IGRS).

Review and comment on the recommendations of application of macro and micro nutrients , their rate and mode.(Organic and inorganic)

Review and comment on the procedure taken for effective weed control programme by mechanical and chemical means keeping in view the classification of weeds (grass, Broad leaf, sedge etc) and life span (annual or perennial).

Comment on the procedure to determine why weeds establish a foothold and recommendations to correct these deficiencies.

Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Agriculture Engineering / Landscape Architecture or related discipline
5-8 years of relevant work experience in Landscaping
Prepares periodic reports summarizing progress of construction activities for higher-level management.
Manages routine construction meetings and monitors Contractors workloads to maximize performance.
Manage the takeover / handover procedure from construction contractor to maintenance contractor and insure that a conditional survey reports for the areas taken and ensure the replacement of dead or non-performing plants.
Ensure to maintain a healthy landscape growth in all the landscape
areas.
Perform all duties assigned by line manager on time
