The Urban Water Practice in our Natural Resources Practice Area houses experts on most aspects of water supply and treatment, sewerage networks, wastewater treatment and solid waste management. Our work includes master planning, feasibility studies, design, project management, contract preparation and construction supervision.
A key project in the Urban Water portfolio is the Lusail Development in Qatar - a 35 km of undeveloped waterfront overlooking the crystal clear Gulf being transformed into a progressive, world-class city where 200,000 people will live and work. Halcrow currently has a number of vacancies for this project, please read further for greater detail on the specifics requirements of this role.
Key role objective

The principal function of this position is to supervise the Contractor, report to the Assistant Resident Engineer, assess variations and valuations and to review the progress of construction activity in respect of Landscaping.

Key areas of responsibility

The priorities of this role include:

Inspect soft and hard landscape, materials approvals, installation, and landscape maintenance contracts to ensure compliance and correction of deficiencies in maintenance; identify problem areas and direct remedial action to be taken.

Inspect work in progress and completed projects for adherence to plans, standards, and specifications. As part of the development process; it is required to commission the works with the Project Manager/Client and Contractor, and to obtain project acceptance, certificate of completion.

Record amount of materials used and work performed.

Ensure compliance with state safety orders.

Demonstrate a full understanding of applicable policies, procedures, and work methods associated with assigned duties.

Assist the Assistant Resident Engineer to gather information and make recommendations to the Engineer / PMS as to whether to approve any EOT or claims.

Ensure the adequacy of all temporary work.

Work with the QS team to monitor expenditures and look after the financial side of contract administration.

Checking method statement and quality control to ensure compliance with specifications.

Ensure that HS&E are in compliance with the Contractual Agreement.

Basic Qualifications

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge. These points should align with the key areas of responsibility:

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff (SRE/RE-Civil, HSE, Inspectors) and external contractors.

Prepare and submit progress or inspection reports.

Respond to questions and concerns from the Project Managers/Client; provide information as appropriate, and resolve complaints.

Perform any other tasks or functions deemed necessary to the daily operations of the Project Manager.Must be a team player and able to work in a lead capacity.

Supervisory and negotiation skills.

Excellent organisational and communication (written and oral) skills.

Working knowledge of engineering and construction related processes and industry practice.

Familiarity with different international standards especially BS and EN.

Minimum qualifications

Diploma in a related Engineering discipline.

5 years experience.

Experience in working on civil engineering projects in a similar role.
