The Role


The Role

The multiple award-winning Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts has been conceptualized as a “Sanctuary for the Senses” whose beautiful properties can be found in stunning locations such as the Seychelles, the Maldives, Bintan (Indonesia), Phuket (Thailand), Bangkok (Thailand), Ringha (China) and Lijiang (China).

In partnership with the iconic and landmark development the Meydan Racecourse, Banyan Tree will be operating “The Meydan” Hotel consisting of 280 Suites, 5 spectacular restaurants, a signature Banyan Tree Spa and meeting facilities for up to 400 guests.

Within the First phase of the recruitment process, we are looking for an experienced and qualified management team to lead this exciting project

Laundry Manager's Responsibilities:

1. Supervises Laundry Supervisor, to ensure that highest possible hygiene and finish standard of hotel linen is maintained at all times.
2. Inspect Guest Laundry, Dry Cleaning and Press work on daily basis, to ensure optimum quality of work, prompt pick-up and on-time delivery of garments.
3. Coordinates with Executive Housekeeper and Director of Food & Beverage to ensure that there is an adequate supply of linen and uniforms available at all times, in particular on weekends/holiday, when laundry is closed.
4. Monitors wash formulas and use of washroom chemicals in order to maintain whiteness/brightness of linen and to ensure linen is returned to user departments free of stains and unpleasant odours.
5. Maintain records of wash rejects and in case of excessive reject rates, improves wash formulas accordingly.
6. Ensures that type of laundry chemicals used are in line with Angsana Hotel & Suites environmental recommendations.
7. Processes a laundry test piece (IFI/Krefeld etc) at least twice a year to monitor mechanical/chemical damage factors as well as tensile strength loss of linens owned by the hotel.
8. Reviews the laundry’s environmental performance and achievements twice a year.
9. On an annual basis, checks with local environmental authorities for new code requirements.
10. Develops and implements standard operating procedures, as well as production and quality standards.
11. Checks constantly all laundry and dry cleaning equipment, to ensure that machines are kept clean, properly maintained and in efficient operating condition.
12. Prepares maintenance requisitions and maintains a follow-up file to ensure that equipment does not fall into disrepair.
13. Schedules working times in a way to optimize production, utilization of equipment as well as utilization of water and energy.
14. Proposes/implements in coordination with the Chief Engineer, possible energy savings in the laundry and dry cleaning department.
15. Assists Purchasing and Housekeeping in analysis and selection of new linens and uniforms.
16. Controls and analyses, on an ongoing basis, departmental labour and material costs, to ensure performance against budget.
17. Prepares the laundry and dry cleaning department budget and goals programme.
18. Prepares a monthly laundry and dry cleaning production summary report.
19. Establishes and updates a 5 – year plan, including necessary replacements/additions of equipment.
20. Conducts such functions as interviewing, hiring, performance appraisal, counseling and dismissal if necessary, to ensure appropriate staffing and productivity. Consults with General Manager or delegate and Personnel Manager, as appropriate, in performing these duties.
21. Establish and maintains effective employee relations.
22. Identifies training needs, develops formal training plans and carries out regular training sessions.
23. On an annul basis, review prices for Guest Laundry/Dry Cleaning/Pressing to ensure they are competitive with those of key hotel competitors.
24. Keeps aware of trends, new methods, chemicals, textiles and equipment in the laundry and dry cleaning industry, through trade magazines and by visiting other laundry and dry cleaning plants.
25. Performs related duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements


Requirements

• With 2 – 3 years relevant experience in similar position in a International Luxury hotel

• Knowledge of Fidelio preferred.

• Can run the operations for the Guest Laundry, Dry Cleaning and Press work on daily basis, to ensure optimum quality of work, prompt pick-up and on-time delivery of garments.

• Has an ability to maintain all laundry and dry cleaning equipment, to ensure that machines are kept clean, properly maintained and in efficient operating condition.

• Strong leadership and communication skills.

• Excellent computer skills with thorough knowledge of Microsoft Software applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

• Good communications skills in English
