Lead Accountant (Projects)

Job description / Role

- Under broad direction assists in the development of the Company's financial and accounting systems, processes, policies, and procedures.
- Challenges status quo and recommends accounting-related process improvements.
- Performs complex account reconciliations and associated analysis. Understands organizational structure and core businesses of the Company.
- Prepares and posts journal vouchers which may include consolidations and eliminations.
- Researches and resolves complex accounting issues.
- Interacts with other departments and business units to resolve financial related issues.
- Coordinates financial report preparation and analysis.
- Meets deadlines and works well under pressure to produce accurate and timely results.
- Month end close activity mainly preparing revenue & cost accruals for a project
- Create & Maintain WBS Structure with in SAP
- Customer contract review in order to maintain Sales Invoice accuracy
- Vendor invoices coding using complex WBS structure, financial model & in line with vendor contracts
- Preparing WELL performance analysis and variance comments post completion of the WELL
- Standard Costing preparation on a quarterly basis & monitoring
- SOX / Internal Audit Compliance
- Month, Quarterly and various adhoc reporting
- Liaising with various business units at all the levels of the organization

Requirements

Skills typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate/graduate degree in accounting and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Accounting.
- Accounting Certification preferred.
- Experience/knowledge of SAP, COGNOS and Business Warehouse, activity-based cost accounting, project management skills and CVA Awareness required.
- Basic supervisory skills/experience preferred.
- Knowledge of US GAAP and country-specific accounting principles is required.
- A qualified accountant either CA or CPA with 5 to 6 years of post-qualification experience.
- Preferably working experience with in Oil & Gas or Construction OR similar industry managing large projects accounting.
- Preferably having worked in one of the HRC countries similar to Iraq.
- Preferably worked on SAP or similar ERP.
- Good coordination skills throughout the organization.
