Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Act as the principle contact within the CAD team who will take direction from the Design & Engineer Manager and then delegate the work within the team. This allows the Design and Engineering Manager to concentrate on managing the project as a whole and freeing their time to concentrate on contracts, Statement of Work (SOW), client interaction etc. making sure drawing production happens in an efficient manner.
•Preparation of detailed technical Architectural and Engineering CAD documentation through any or all stages of the design, development and construction process for all Construction division construction projects.
•Plans, organizes, and coordinates own work as well as work of assigned Designers and Drafters to ensure that all work are in line with the requirements of the client.
•Continual implementation of existing Construction Division CAD standards, delivery and project standards as well as implementing changes resulting in greater efficiency
•Take hand drawn sketch drawings and develop into CAD documentation to be able to interpret requirements and move it to CAD.
•Collects, reads, interprets, and uses related reference documents and drawings prepared by other disciplines, vendors, or outside sources.
•Undertake small projects from conception to completion with little or no guidance to ensure work moves forward in the absence of his superiors.
•Develops designs for complete and complex engineering systems, structures, with minimum supervision ensuring that work is completed at all times.
•Surveying of existing facilities and virgin land prior to commencement of design works to properly plan and complete accurate drawings.
•Reviews and suggests additional training required for both individuals and the CAD Design Team as a whole to ensure continuous improvement within the team.
•Ensures a creative and innovative environment is maintained.
•Produces high standard of quality Architectural and Engineering computer aided design work and accompanying reports ensuring compliance with current requirements and and make improvements to designs as required.
•Assists in the evaluation and redesign of projects to ensure proper measurements and process were followed.
•Ensures compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, safety, constructability, reliable operation, construction economy, and operating convenience.
•Preparation of detailed CAD Architectural, Civil and Structural engineering packages ranging from Concept Design to As Buit documentation packages.
•Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers and Drafters.
•Communicate all relevant project/practice information to superiors, clients and peers to ensure all are aware of current projects and processes to follow.

Third Party Construction Contractors, Sub-contractors, Suppliers, Clients, Manufacturers

Requirements

Essential:
•Degree / Diploma either in Architecture or Construction or equal proven on job experience
•Five years or more experience as an Architectural CAD Designer on projects of various scales, complexity, stages with a minimum of industrial, commercial, temporary, and residential building experience with either a construction or architectural firm.
•Excellent Architectural drafting and technical design skills
•Fully conversant with Auto Cad 2010 as a minimum design software. Able to use own initiative to produce technical/economic design solutions to problems.
•Able to work under pressure in often difficult environments.
•Excellent oral and written English communication skills
•Strong problem solving skills, with an ability to work independently and with minimal supervision and direction to achieve the best possible outcome and delivery.
•Comprehensive understanding of International Building Codes and regulations including BS and US standards
•Previous work experience in Afghanistan / Iraq and or MENA region would be a must.

Desirable:
•Previous experience in designing Oil and Gas Compounds, Camp Facilities
•Previous experience in designing pre-fabricated steel warehousing.
•Previous experience in design site services for camp type facilities.
•Experience of working in difficult environments.
•Experience in civil and structural engineering would also be an advantage.
•Additional software understanding ie Archi CAD would also be an advantage
•Understanding of construction methodologies, with previous site experience
