The RoleThe RoleReporting to: PRODUCTION MANAGER Profile: The Lead Chemist will be responsible for defining the Operating and Maintenance parameters necessary to achieve the optimum chemical conditions, both for current operation and to maintain the integrity of the plant over the longer term. In addition a detailed understanding of the Chemical and Environmental matters associated with the operation of Combined Cycle Gas Turbine plant, Desalination plant and a wide range of Auxiliary Equipment is required. Must possess excellent leadership skills with the ability to maintain high levels of focused drive and energy who can work well with others towards the achievement of specific goals and objectives. Core Competencies Technical •Technical competence within appropriate disciplines of chemistry •Provide professional guidance and advice in relation to power plant chemistry and environmental control •Ability to ensure that activities affected by chemical and related considerations can be carried out effectively, efficiently, economically and safely. •Define and maintain the operating and maintenance parameters necessary to achieve optimum chemical conditions, both for current operation and to maintain the integrity of the plant over the longer term. •Maintain continual awareness of performance issues and areas of shortfall in performance •Provide accurate and timely guidance and advice on matters affecting plant process and performance by consultation with the production manager •Knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to power plant operation •Anticipating and responding effectively to the operational demands on the station •Defining and implementing operating policies and practices. •Respond effectively to operational demands and assist in achieving safe and efficient generation •Commercial awareness of PWPA and O&M •Budget management •Computer literacy Personal •Provide effective support to the team to maximize the contribution made to the plant objectives •Leading groups to progress projects and other initiatives •Making quality decisions and exercise sound judgement •Demonstrate the ability to liaise with external organisations •Delegates effectively and creates a work climate where people succeed and empowers people to take action •Good understanding of cultural differences that exist and ability to manage. •Has the ability to create a climate of open communication on personal and professional issues •Maintains high levels of focused drive and energy, setting personally challenging goals |
RequirementsRequirementsExperience: -10 years experience in the Chemistry section, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory position. -Should have knowledge and exposure of modern Gas Turbine technology and Desalination processes. Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering/Chemistry with minimum requirement and qualification in management studies. |
