Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

A large, global consulting and engineering company, with many projects in the fields of energy, industry, transportation, water, environment and real estate require a Lead Electrical Engineer for one of their Power Plant projects in Jeddah, KSA.

This is a supervision role and as such, candidates must have relevant experience on power generation projects.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Lead, direct and monitor the site engineers and inspectors.
• Monitor and inspect and electrical erection / installation/commissioning activities of the Contractor with regards to progress, compliance with the Contract and applicable codes/standards, quality, safety and environmental acceptance.
• Review and approve Contractor’s erection/installation/commissioning work method statements.
• Review and approve site related design/ engineering matters submitted by the Contractor.
• Review and approve Contractor’s site quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC) system proposed for all mechanical erection/installation/commissioning activities.
• Review and approve the proposed test procedures for materials/equipment/plant to be tested on Site by the Contractor. Witness such tests and review the related test reports.
• Monitor and verify Contractor’s work progress in the respective area for the purpose of progress payments and assist the Project Manager in issuing the payment certificates with all necessary backup.
• Attend the regular (daily/weekly) Site coordination meetings with the Contractor and the monthly progress review meeting.
• Prepare the regular Site progress reports for the respective part as required by the Project/Site Manager (weekly and monthly).
• Maintain records for the mechanical part of contractual claims and variations by either the Contractor or the Employer including the necessary evidence.
• Review the training program proposed by the Contractor for the Employer’s personnel.
• Review of the preliminary (prior to start commissioning) and final (prior to taking over) O&M manuals submitted by the Contractor
• Review the final mechanical as-built documents submitted by the Contractor upon Taking Over
• Instructions including distribution procedures, etc. issued by the Head Office/Project Manager shall be strictly adhered to. In case of difficulties in application of such instructions, the Project Manager shall be consulted before any other actions are being taken.
• Decisions taken at the Head Office/Project Manager’s level, if discussed with the Owner, shall duly be supported in order to reinforce company concept.
• Receive and implement instructions as given by the Project Manager.
• Cooperate in all activities with the site team in accordance with the instructions of the Project Manager/Site Manager.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE:

• At least 20 years of proven experience in large Thermal Power Projects and Min. 10 years of experience as a Lead Engineer

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Strong technical background.
• Excellent knowledge of Electrical systems, products and materials.
• Excellent knowledge of applicable Electrical design and construction codes.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent command of Microsoft Office business solution (Excel, Word).
• Ability to review and comment properly on necessary documentation.
• Excellent understanding of specifications and Authority requirements.
• Complete project understanding in given discipline, from start to hand-over.
