The Role


The Role


To support Technical Services Department in order to ensure that the inspection processes are carried out as per defined schedules and checklists in order to ensure optimum availability of plant equipments.

Plant Inspection:
Define Inspection schedules for plant rotating as well as stationary equipments and review the data collected by Inspection Engineers
Assess Residual Life of equipments and advice for life extension and replacement requirements.

Major Shutdown Inspection:
Plan the inspection activities during the major shutdown of plant in line with the OEM requirements and develop inspection database.
Conduct/witness inspections and recommend corrective measures to maintenance. Record compliance.

Equipment Condition Monitoring:
Develop a schedule of inspection for plant equipments and review the collected data.
Develop database to monitor trends and plan corrective actions based on inspection trends.

Excavation/Encroachment Permits:
Manage the issuance and control of Excavation and encroachment permits within Marafiq premises and for Marafiq facilities in Jubail Industrial City
Cathodic Protection:

Develop a schedule of Cathodic inspection data collection for all plant equipments and review the collected data.
Develop database to monitor trends and plan corrective actions based on inspection records.

Recruitment & Motivation:
Participate in the recruitment, train, develop and motivate staff in the Inspection section to ensure that staffing is at the required levels and calibre and that performance is continuously managed and improved.

Policies & Procedures:
Recommend improvements to departmental policy and direct the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of Inspection activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality service to customers.

Safety, Quality & Environment:
Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls across the Inspection section to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.

Leadership:
Ensure the effective achievement of Technical Services departmental objectives through the leadership of the Inspection section – setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal – in order to maximise subordinate and the performance of the section.

Cost Control:
Monitor the financial performance of the Inspection section against budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.

The jobholder is responsible to prepare action plans for the Inspection section in order to fulfil the job purpose.
The jobholder also has primary responsibility to coordinate with Operation and Maintenance staff to solve the Inspection bottlenecks, to analyze plant incidence and to find the root cause of the equipment problems. The jobholder is also required to support maintenance as well as engineering personnel with the Inspection related details in order to effect modifications and changes.

Minimum Qualifications:
University degree in a Mechanical / Corrosion engineering-related discipline.
Minimum Experience:
10 years’ maintenance or plant Inspection experience in a heavy industrial or utilities environment.
5 years’ experience of Inspection section within the utility sector.
3 – 5 years’ experience of managing a team of qualified professional Inspection Engineers.
Experience of working with business management systems such as SAP.
Job-Specific Skills:
Expert knowledge of specific Inspection disciplines such as Condition Monitoring, Cathodic Protection, Non destructive testing, etc.
Detailed and expert knowledge of the Marafiq plant equipments
Extensive knowledge of Inspection systems and principles.
Sound understanding of Inspection risk management philosophy and techniques.
Sound understanding of Inspection QA/QC philosophy and techniques.

Established in terms of Royal Decree M/29 of 18 October 2000 (22 Rajab 1421 Hijra) as a joint-stock company, Marafiq is owned by its four major shareholders - the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RC), Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco), and the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
