About the Business

Description and Desired Qualifications
Qatar Solar Technologies (QSTec) was launched in 2010 and will be the first Polysilicon production facility in the Middle East.

QSTec is strategically located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia in Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City. Our convenient location enables us to rapidly service the growing solar markets of Asia, Europe and the Middle East and Qatar's advanced infrastructure means the markets of the USA and Australia are within easy reach.

Duties & Responsibilities:

This position reports to the PMC Engineering Manager. The Engineering Specialist (Instrumentation) is to provide project specific engineering, construction, and commissioning expertise and will interface with the EPC contractors and Utilities suppliers on the project. The physical engineering, construction, and commissioning of the facility will be performed by the EPC contractors as part of their scope of supply.
Detailed engineering is led out of Doha with the majority of the work being done by the main EPC contractor in India. The Engineering Specialist (Instrumentation) will be based in Doha during the engineering phase of the project with occasional trips to India. During construction and commissioning, the Engineering Specialist (Instrumentation) will be based on site in Ras Laffan Industrial City.

Responsibilities of the Engineering Specialist (Instrumentation) are anticipated to be as follows and may expand as the project develops:

Be the lead in the PMC team for all issues related to Instrumentation
Determine overall plan for instrumentation in accordance with scope of EPC contractors
Coordinate scope with QSTec, EPC contractors, and utilities suppliers
Participate in HAZOP reviews
Work closely with QSTec personnel, EPC Contractors, and utilities suppliers to resolve technical issues
Develop “white papers” to address and resolve particular issues
Review and coordinate technical submittals from EPC contractors and utilities suppliers
Interface with QSTec Operations Team
Member of construction team to ensure construction by EPC contractors and suppliers is in accordance with design
Team member for commissioning activities

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years technical and field experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or chemical industries
Extensive engineering, construction and commissioning experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering is highly desirable
Polysilicon plant startup and commissioning experience is highly desirable
Polysilicon plant operation experience is highly desirable
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Leadership and management experience and skills
