Lead Logistics Specialist - Islamabad

Under broad direction, supervises all logistics activities in a specific area. Plans and optimizes efficient movement of goods in compliance with company policies, procedures and local laws, including in-country transportation as well as exportation and importation of goods. Communicates and coordinates with all parties involved in relation to materials
Movements. Identifies opportunities for improvement of processes.

Job roles:
- Supervises a team of logistics personnel undertaking movement in an area or
within a function.
- Ensures maintenance of up to date country and plant shipping instructions by
mode of transportation
- Negotiates agreements with local carriers, forwarding and customs agents
- Leads the coordination effort with the internal and external customers in
preparation of goods for shipping
- Ensures proper packing, marking, labeling, weight and dimensions of cargo
- Ensures compliance with shipping instructions to final destination; supervises and
creates documentation required to ship goods to end destination as per shipping
instructions
- Obtains import and export permits and licenses; whenever necessary
- Checks products in Dangerous Goods Manual to confirm they are dangerous and
assign the proper United Nations number
Is responsible for the accurate completion of the Shippers Dangerous Goods
- Declaration form for hazardous cargo
- Ensures compliance of the logistics organization with policies, procedures and
local laws, and global logistics guidelines

Requirements

- Must be experienced in two modes of transportations, ability to improve movement planning through the use of data
- Understand full constraints to achieve moves
- Understands hazardous moves
- Communicates with service providers to ensure goods move timely and corrects delays quickly
- Contributes to gathering of business data to ensure business capacity needs are meet, - Understands how to calculate TCO's and understand how to use them
- Works with Logistics Service providers to sustain a competitive advantage
-A ble to develop a plan for ad hoc moves

Important criteria:
* 4 year degree or equivalent degree
* 3 years of experience in Logistics, Oil and Gas industry
* SAP/TMS Experience
* IATA & IMDG Certified
