Lead Structural Engineer

Job description / Role

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

It is envisaged that the right individual will have a broad understanding of all aspects of Structural Engineering
Working closely on construction plans with clients, architects, and other professionals
Developing design ideas using CAD software
Investigating the properties of materials and concrete, and advising which is most suitable
Working out the loads and stresses on different parts of a structure
Using computer simulations to predict how structures will react under different conditions
Inspecting unsafe buildings and recommending options for repairs or demolition
Making sure that projects meet legal guidelines, environmental directives, and health and safety requirements
Preparing bids for tenders
Supervising project teams
Giving progress reports to clients and senior managers
Supervision of contractor and control of quality on a daily basis. Review of contractors material, shop drawing and method statement submissions for conformance with contract documents
Ensure that works are constructed in accordance with the design and contract documentation
Liaison with the client, contractor and design consultant representatives.
Review engineering calculations of other engineers or engineering technicians. Compile report, and prepare graphs and table, of utility operations.
Assist in preparation of daily, weekly and monthly progress reports
Attend inspections to ensure that works are constructed in accordance with the contract documentation and method statements
Liaison with the contractor on all construction related matters

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

Job Requirements/Qualifications/Experience:

- Engineering Degree (preferably Civil/Structural) with over 10 years relevant experience in the construction supervision of Structural Works, including but not limited to Post-tensioned concrete footbridges, Concrete bridge repairs and Concrete marine wall blocks.
- Significant relevant experience in Design and or site, ideally on large scale projects in the Middle East
- Experience of Condition Survey, QA QC and Repairs for Structures
- Experienced in multi disciplines related to site development, utilities relocation and installation, roads and asphalt construction
- Needs a clear understanding of the Client focused approach

Requirements
5 STAR HOTEL DESIGN EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
High levels of creativity, imagination and vision.
A keen interest in the built environment and the dedication to see projects to their conclusion.
Willingness to work long hours, under time and budget pressure.
Excellent design and drafting skills and proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD).
Strong mathematical skills.
A keen eye for the detail of specific tasks, combined with an understanding of how such specifics fit in with the project as a whole.
Organisational, project management and planning skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
An analytical mind with excellent problem-solving ability.
Leadership skills as well as the ability to work well within a team of other professionals.
