Legal Associate - Banking and Finance

Job description / Role

Our Client, a top tier international Firm is looking for a 2-4 yr PQE Baking and Finance Associate to join their existing team, Their top ranking Muscat team of Banking and Finance lawyers and professionals offers the opportunity to work on landmark deals in the Sultanate of Oman. Recent deals completed by the team include the construction financing of the luxury Kempinski development in Muscat, a $600 million debut EMTN Programme for an Omani bank and the recent merger of HSBC with a local bank.

The Sultanate of Oman has recently released $50 billion in projects. The team has been fortunate to have recently secured instructions on many of those high profile projects. They regularly advise banks, national and international corporations, investment funds as well as local and international financial institutions in relation to a number of financing instructions, including project and acquisition finance, Islamic financing, asset finance, syndicated financing as well as capital markets work.

The right candidate will have the opportunity to work on some of the country's most significant financing projects and in a team which is committed to the training and continuous development of its lawyers, offering regular update sessions in London and throughout the region, which also promotes the opportunity to meet colleagues from across the network.

The team works regularly on a cross border basis with colleagues throughout their Middle East and global network.

The Muscat office is recognised for the quality of its deals and its people and the firm is privileged to have a prestigious client list, which includes the Oman government entities (both ministries and commercial companies), many of Oman's best-known public and private companies, banks and multinationals operating in the Sultanate.

Requirements

They are looking for a dynamic 2-4 years PQE associate with strong technical and drafting skills to join our expanding transactional banking team in Muscat. Ideally the successful candidate will have gained their experience at a City or major regional firm. As a large part of our work also involves Oman law and practise, the candidate will also be expected to learn quickly and demonstrate commitment to client investment, knowledge databases and getting involved with the training activities of the office and the team, Oman is also a market leader in promoting a series of client and industry seminars on a wide spectrum of topics on both local and international law across a range of sectors.
