Legal Associate - Corporate

Job description / Role

Our Client, a top tier international firm is now recruiting for a Banking and Finance Associate to join their existing team, The Muscat Office has been rated Tier 1 for each of the past 5 years by both Chambers and Legal 500. They are looking to maintain this rating and indeed to enhance the corporate practice by developing in line with the development of the corporate sector in Oman. In particular, there is now significant private equity transactional work being generated both domestically and internationally by both the various sovereign wealth funds and private funds. They wish to capture more of this work as well as further developing our IPO/capital markets work. There are now significant domestic pressures for this legal work to be awarded to firms in Muscat, rather than elsewhere in the region, as Oman pursues policies looking to develop legal skills within Oman. There is also significant opportunity for being involved in regional transactions working with our other offices in the region.

Muscat is recognised as one of the most desirable locations to live and work in the Middle East.

Requirements

- They are looking for a 3-6 year top quality PQE associate/senior associate.
- The successful candidate will have significant transactional experience (both private and public) including private equity, joint ventures, M&A, Capital Markets and commercial work.

Experience:
- Working in the corporate department of a major law firm
- Working in the Middle East (desirable but not essential)
- Leading on corporate/private equity transactions whether as part of a team or alone
- Structuring corporate transactions
- Marketing and presenting to clients/potential clients

Technical Skills:
- Exceptional communication skills
- Exceptional drafting skills
- UK law qualified - knowledge of Omani law/practice not required but ability to learn swiftly from others essential
