The Role


The Role


Our client are seeking to appoint a Legal Counsel , fluent in written and spoken Arabic to provide in-house legal advice, guidance and services to the bank and its subsidiaries under the supervision of the Group Legal Counsel.

Principal Accountabilities
1. To provide high quality legal services to the Group through anticipating and evaluating potential legal problems, and providing competent advice and guidance so as to enable management to achieve business objectives, whilst adequately protecting the Group’s interests.
2. Identifying legal risks for the Group under the laws of various countries in which it conducts its business and advising management appropriately.
3. Reviewing legal documents prepared by third parties.
4. Drafting and preparing legal documents and contracts for use by the Group.
5. Preparing and revising standard legal documentation for conventional and Islamic transactions, so as to create precedents to be used by the Group.
6. Contributing to ensuring compliance with laws and regulations of the jurisdictions in which Group, including international financial and economic sanctions.
7. Managing legal cases, both for and against.
8. Assisting in the preparation and implementation of Group policies and procedures.
9. Protecting the assets of the Group.
10. Advising on corporate governance issues.
11. Advising corrective legal action such as on classified loans by analyzing liabilities, counseling management, negotiating with counsel for other parties and assisting in the scheduling of payments so as to safeguard the Group from potential loss.

Job Requirements:
Knowledge
• Strong English and Arabic (verbal & written) skills.
• Broad knowledge of and experience in the laws relevant to international business in general and international banking and finance in particular.
• Ability to develop contacts internally with senior management as well as externally, such as the Central Bank of Bahrain officials.

Education / Certifications
• Qualified lawyer with a professional license to practice in court and/or provide legal advice,

Experience
• At least 3-4 years post admission or qualification experience in a legal position.
