Job description / Role
Objectives:
Reporting to the senior legal manager, the successful candidate will ensure that the bank’s interests are protected from a legal stand point. S/He will provide legal opinions and advisory services to the Corporate and Investment Banking Group.
Key Functions: (include but not limited to)
--- Drafting and reviewing legal documentation and negotiating all types of contracts relating to corporate, banking and finance matters.
--- Support the Corporate and Investment Banking Group and the Credit documentation unit in negotiating credit facility agreements.
--- Review and draft documentation relating to corporate commercial banking arrangements such as mortgage agreements, services agreements, syndication agreements, letters of credit, bonds and guarantees.
--- Attend client meetings with Relationship Managers and provide assistance in addressing legal issues and closing out documentation.
--- Comply with the legal department’s internal service standards for the provision of services in order to achieve business objectives and timelines.
--- Liaise with external counsel to obtain advice on particular legal matters and issues.
Requirements
Experience and Qualifications:
Qualified Law Graduate with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in banking law practice at a reputable bank or law firm preferably in the UAE or GCC.
Well versed with UAE or European corporate and commercial laws with some level of exposure to legal practice and laws in international jurisdictions.
Good contract drafting skills.
Good command of written and spoken English is essential.
Arabic fluency would be an advantage.
