Our client is a regional property development firm with MENA regional development operations and they seek to recruit a Life Safety Systems Engineer for a major high rise tower in Doha. The firm is constructing multiple towers with the overall project valued at USD3B. This role will work as the clients representative specifically as a Senior System Engineer responsible for the overall design and installation management of Fire Alarm Systems and operating protocols. The project is currently under construction.

Reporting to the Project Director, the proven performer we seek for this role will be responsible for the following:
- Receives post award project specifications from project team and provide the appropriate mix of products and installation methods to provide the most cost effective solution.
- In conjunction with consultants, review all required design drawings and product submittals and schedules subsequent hand-off to FM co and operations.
- Acts as a technical resource to the design and project management team.
- Create unique design solutions to meet specific project requirements.
- Designs systems with consultant for high rise residential buildings consisting of system riser diagrams, electrical point / point drawings, bill of materials, sequence of operations to meet the intent of the project plans, specifications and contract documents.
- Analyse plans, construction contract specifications and all applicable codes to determine project requirements and risks.
- Provide start-up and checkout documentation to the Project Manager and system specialist for use in commissioning and validation.
- Prepare engineering re-estimate and follows up, as required.
- Select proper types and quantities of products and outside suppliers to meet project requirements.
- Lead the completion of drawings to suit engineering changes and initiates engineering changes.
- Guide the creation of design layouts and detail drawings of products.
- Guide the compilation of materials and specification sheets.
- Lead the designs of cost-effective products modifications or improvements on existing products with adherence to applicable industry and project specifications.
- Completing and verifying engineering calculations.
- Lead the selection of materials and evaluates competitive products.

Requirements

- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Fire Protection or comparable with 5-10 years engineering /systems.
- Knowledge of Fire Alarm systems, Security systems and general electronics.
- Strong working knowledge of all Fire Life Safety System requirements
- Strong working knowledge of Civil Defense requirements, policies and procedures
- Strong knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
- Major project experience essential (>USD100mill) required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Candidates with expatriate experience, ideally in the Middle East, will be viewed favorably.
