Logistics Manager (Greenfield Project Experience)

Our client is a world-class provider of importation, transportation, distribution, and logistics management solutions for a wide array of clients spanning multiple business verticals throughout the MENA Region.

Based in Egypt, the Logistics Manager will initially oversee a large project – the construction of an integrated logistics facility in country. The primary objective of the role is to run and manage the operation of an efficient Warehouse Distribution and Transportation facility once it’s completed. The candidate must also have commercial skills to turn around new and successful business opportunities for the company.

Responsibilities:
• Successfully lead all facets of constructing, implementing and operating an integrated logistics facility (includes a temperature controlled facility).
• Plan and implement all execution systems for the distribution facility.
• Prepare annual budget forecast.
• Manage inventory to highest specifics and put inventory control processes into place.
• Quality interaction with entire client base for warehousing, transportation and transportation management.
• Partner with Human Resources Management to design and implement succession planning and leadership development strategy of staff.
• Develop, lead, and implement strategic and tactical objectives in direct alignment with corporate goals and annual operating plan for profitability, and quality customer service initiatives.
• Maintain compliance to all federal, state and local regulations and guidelines including but not limited to: OSHA, COOL, GMP, HAZMAT, HAAPP and the bio-terrorism Act of 2002.
• Oversight of Safety Committee initiatives.
• Participate in planning and execution of disaster recovery efforts.

Requirements

• 5 to 10 years related work experience in Contract Logistics / Supply Chain Management, Warehousing and Distribution operations supplemented with experience in setting up or modernisation of logistics / warehouse / distribution facilities.
• Excellent project management skills and the ability to “get the job done”
• Practical operating experience with a process and metric driven 3PL organization. Local experience in Egypt an advantage.
• Ability to proficiently speak, read and write in English and Arabic
• Strong commercial ability, able to identify opportunities and propose competitive services accordingly.
• Able to work logically and systematically, with strong analytical & problem-solving skills and the ability to think laterally in offering creative solutions.
• Bachelors degree concentrating in Operations Management, Business or Supply Chain is strongly preferred.
