Logistics Supervisor

Job description / Role

Reporting to the Sales Manager MEA, you will develop efficient and reliable methodology and networks for distribution and or receipt of goods.
- Supervise preparation and correctness of all commercial documents, weights for inbound and outbound material.
- Planning dispatrch of finished goods to the customers in coordination with SMMEA with optimal utilization of resources.
- Continuously explore possibilities and options for reducing cost.
- Coordinate with all internal & external customers for invoices,customs clearance, shipping and payment collection.
- Monitors the existing stocks within the plant/s
- Coordinate the organizing and monitoring of stocks in terminals
- Examine orders and compile data for production schedules
- Check inventories and prepare delivery schedules
- Evaluates training needs for logistic department
- Develop efficient transport of products to the clients
- Support the sales force in dealing with customers
- Increase our services to the clients
- Solve the specific transport problems
- Negotiate and contracting the transports and shipping lines in coordination with SMM.
- Manage Contract administration.
- Manager payables, credit limits, and maintain regular records for the same.
- Supervise and ensure correct preparation and timely flow of all commercial documents.
- Coordinate with finance department for negotiations of documents (invoices) through bank for draft payable, commercial terms.
- Check all logistics invoices in line with agreed transportation and or shipping rates.
- Ensure FIFO for finished goods as much as possible.
- Coordinate with productioin department on daily basis to ensure optimum stock levels of each type of finished product in line with current or forecasted customer requirement.
- Review forecast for customer requirement on a weekly basis with SMMEA
- To report any deviations from agreed procedures, especially in case of commercial documents on an immediate basis to SMMEA & GM & Plant Manager
- Keep the contact with the customs house and customs brokers
- Implements the transport costs control system and reporting
- Check the accuracy of the transport / shipping line invoices
- Create and regular update the database of transport services and transport companies
- Prepare reports and statistics regarding transport costs
- Gather and centralize information regarding the legal aspects which can influence transport costs
- Translate sales forecast into production planning in collaboration with Plant Manager and SMMEA (on yearly, monthly, weekly and daily basis)
- Share useful information, best practices within the team/company

Requirements

- University Degree in Economics or Technical discipline
- Minimum of 5 years in Logistics, Shipping or equivalent environment is essential
- Fluent in English, written & spoken
- Previous supervisory skills are essential
- Organized, punctual & time driven
- Precise, accurate with high level of attention to detail
- Flexible & motivated to get the job done within specifc time constraints
- Experience of shipping lines, containers, cargo, customs documentation is essential
- Team spirited
- Excellent Customer Service & Communication skills
- Initiative, forward thinking and problem solving attitude
- Energetic & willing to learn
- Good MS Office -Excel & Word
- Experience of a major ERP is a plus
