The RoleThe RoleA . Plans, schedules, coordinates and provides work direction for the preparation of studies, designs, reports, correspondence, statistics or other presentations to assure adequacy and conformance to overall objectives in the solution of Loss Prevention engineering problems. B. Formulates and/or guides the formulation of the basis for engineering studies or projects in any of the areas of Loss Prevention engineering and assures analysis and evaluation as to scope, effect on existing installation, economic value, long-range planning and budgetary considerations. C. Discusses, coordinates activities, and resolves loss prevention problems; developing factual and objective information so that those who have the ultimate decision-making responsibility can make sound decisions concerning the appropriate action to be taken. D. Participates in the necessary measurement and evaluation of the effectiveness of any assigned loss prevention programs or procedures developed or modifications necessary to achieve optimum results. E. Serves as one of the Loss Prevention Engineers periodically "on- call" for response to emergency situations and incidents in the assigned area. F. Reviews technological developments and equipment to keep up-to- date on the devices and techniques designed to eliminate or minimize hazards and determines whether these developments and techniques have application in the Company. G. Serves as a consultant to purchasing, standards, and methods to incorporate the applicable safety and health requirements in all purchasing and contracting specifications as assigned. H. Develops and promotes on- off-job safety education material and programs for all Company employees. I. Develops and recommends safety standards, codes, and procedures that become part of the operating instructions of the Company. J. Performs miscellaneous related duries as assigned. |
RequirementsRequirementsA/B. A Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety/Fire Engineering or one of the Science or Engineering fields and a total of 10 years' experience related to the petrochemical or ancillary industries in the field of loss prevention engineering. This experience should include areas such as: accident prevention, traffic control, fire prevention, health physics, hazardous materials, qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, process safety or accident investigation. C. Proven ability to communicate, in technical English, with science and engineering peers, as well as division heads, department heads, and admin. area heads. Must be able to produce clear, concise oral and written reports in English. D. Must have demonstrated knowledge of loss prevention engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, U.S. and Saudi Aramco fire and safety codes, standards and specifications. Certifications, such as Professional Engineer, Certified Safety Profess- ional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager or Hazard Control Manager, are desirable but not required. |
