Employment: Full Time

Atkins has been established in the Gulf for over 40 years, having first carried out design and supervision commissions in the Gulf area in 1967. The regional head office (Dubai) was established in 1979.

We provide a full range of design, engineering and project management services for buildings, transportation and other infrastructure programmes.

Atkins in the Middle East now employs around 2,000 staff serving Gulf clients across all market sectors from offices in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait City, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, and Sharjah.

We have 500 staff in Qatar and an impressive range and quality of projects including key advisor to the Central Planning Office (part of the Ministry of Municipality & Urban Planning), the Doha West local roads and drainage program and the Design of the Red Line South Metro, as well as many smaller, but equally exciting projects and a substantial pipeline which is supported by our high profile brand within the Qatar market.

We are currently looking for an MEP Engineer to join our team based in Qatar.

Responsibilities
- Carry out inspection of works in progress
- Ensure contractor compliance with contract specifications and approved shop drawings
- Review of shop drawing and material submittals.
- Monitor and report contractor progress and all activities.
- Deliver all Atkins obligations related to the MEP Package under the Conditions of Contract.
- Assist the Project Manager and Resident Engineer in delivering all other obligations under the Conditions of Contract.
- Assist the Project Manager and Resident Engineer in delivering all Atkins internal Project Management deliverables.
- Comply with and maintain all discipline documentation in accordance with Project Quality Plan.
- Comply with all Atkins QHSE policies.

Requirements

- Degree qualified.
- Minimum of 12 years experience of Electrical, Mechanical & Plumbing Engineering.
- Must have integrity, be flexible and proactive.
- Must demonstrate ability to act independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work on remote projects (outside of Muscat).
- Able to take ownership of and deliver MEP package on site independently not limited to:
- Checking of and identifying all requirements for Testing and Commissioning of MEP works package.
- Checking and clearing of contractors QA Submittals and Inspection Requests.
- Generate and submit Weekly and Monthly Reports.
- Generate, manage and maintain tracking and reporting schedules.
- Direct and manage a full team of Inspectors
- Direct and manage the Contractor not limited to the MEP works
- Full knowledge of Document Control procedures.
- Full knowledge of QHSE principles and practices.
- Good communication skills in written and spoken English essential
- Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential
- Good team player, able to communicate effectively with colleagues

Desirable
- Understanding of British, American and International design standards
- Reasonable knowledge of AutoCAD, and MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Behavioural Competencies
