Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

1. Creating, implementing and monitoring processes and procedures around the creation of monthly forecasts;
2. Preparing periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries;
3. Implementing corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls;
4. Contributing to medium and long-term business planning;
5. Offering professional judgment on financial matters and advising on ways of improving business performance;
6. Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers;
7. Liaising with other function managers to put the finance view in context;
8. Monitoring and evaluating financial information systems.
9. Producing weekly, monthly and quarterly management reports to senior management
10. Preparation of cash flow statements, income and expenditure accounts
11. To develop and control a centralised accounting system to ensure that accounts are effectively managed.
12. To investigate variances against budgets and provide analysis of differences.
13. Prepare monthly payroll and necessary reconciliations.
14. Preparing all schedules and account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
15. To perform month end closing for Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Payroll and general ledger in the finance system.
16. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and cash flow forecasts.
17. Hold monthly meetings with management to discuss the budgetary position and agree action plans where required.
18. To act as lead facilitator in the conduct of Internal and External Audit.
19. To handle all payments to suppliers and employees.
20. To process customer sales invoices in accordance with customer contracts.
21. Preparation of the monthly management accounts
22. Produce the budget and quarterly forecasts for approval by the Financial Controller and Financial Director
23. Provide variances analysis from budget, identify added-value reporting opportunities for trend analysis and commentary to assist forecasting and budgeting requirements
24. Assist with the audit preparation work to allow for timely completion of the annual financial statements and corporation tax returns
25. Maintaining records and reconciliation controls of approved budgets
26. Year end income and expenditure forecasts

Requirements

- Graduate degree in Finance and/or Accounting
- Chartered Accountancy qualification is desirable
- Higher amount of work experience can substitute the above qualification requirement.
- 2 - 4 years in leading the financial function
- Prior work experience in the utility industry will be an added advantage
- Advanced knowledge of financial systems and accounting practices
- An understanding of financial management and wider management principles and techniques
- Advanced negotiation skills
- Excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
