The Role


Based in Doha, Qatar, Sidra Medical and Research Center will be the Middle East's first academic medical center designed to the best international standards. Scheduled to open in early 2013, Sidra will provide world class, patient-focused, clinical services for women and children, medical education, and biomedical research in an ultra-modern, all-digital facility.The Manager, Birthing Center II and Maternal Special Care, administers, directs, coordinates and evaluates planning for patient care associated with the clinical activities of the Birthing Center II and Maternal Special Care  unit and is responsible for the recommendation, development and implementation of policies and procedures in these areas, The Manager,  Birthing Center II and Maternal Special Care is responsible for the direction and evaluation of planning for patient care delivery in collaboration with physician advisors, support services, IT services and other internal and external project stakeholders. The Manager, Birthing Center II and Maternal Special Care ensures that recruiting, commissioning, on-boarding, orientation and service activation responsibilities are carried out in accordance with project plans and timelines and which may extend into hospital operations

* The Manager, Birthing Center II and Women's Special Care Unit provides leadership and direction for Birthing Center II and Women's Special Care Unit in accordance with project and departmental goals and objectives.* Is Responsible for completion of regular performance evaluations for each project team member. * Plans staffing models and scheduling practices for the Birthing Center II and Women's Special Care staff, meeting the patient's need for continuity and level of care.* Participates in recruitment, interviewing and selection of project staff. * Collaborates with ancillary support services to plan/provide a safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.* In collaboration with the Finance work stream plans, develops, and justifies a fiscal plan (budget) for Birthing Center II and Women's Special Care. * Evaluates and recommends standards for utilization of equipment and supplies.* Provides input and supports specialty standards in formulating patient care policy and procedures for Birthing Center II and Women's Special Care. * Works with physician advisors, IT vendors and other internal stakeholders to coordinate the planning of patient care.* Participates in the planning and promotion of performance improvement processes including key performance indicators (KPI's).* Provides input as required for the Clinical Information System and other IT applications.* Uses recognized standards to evaluate patient care to ensure evidence based processes for assessment, planning, intervention, re‑evaluation, and documentation.* Updates and maintains clinical skills in area of specialty as necessary. * Collaborates with clinical educators in planning, implementation and evaluation of staff and patient education.* Assumes responsibility for own personal continuing education including maintaining clinical skills in area of specialty. * Fosters positive public relations for the project. * In view of the developing and changing needs and opportunities within sidra during this start-up phase, this position may perform other duties as assigned. * As the project moves towards opening, the duties of the position will be revised. * The post holder will be kept appraised regarding development of the operational role and will be consulted as necessary regarding the job transition. * The current post holder may transition into the new role following an appropriate selection process.ESSENTIAL* Masters in Nursing and 3 years of Labor and Delivery Services Management experience OR * Bachelors degree in nursing and 5 years relevant Labor and Delivery Services Management experience.* Experience with clinical Information systems either as an end user, super user or build contributor.* Current RN Licensure.*  Current NRP, ACLS Certification.* Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office, and Excel.* Ability to use search engines and data bases for internet research.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.* Experience in organizing data and generating thorough, accurate , timely reports.* Strong group presentation skills.* Fluency in written and spoken English.DESIRABLE* Clinical experience in North American or Western Academic Medical Center.* Familiarity with JCAHO, JCI and other accreditation organizations.* Strong analytical and research skills.
